We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake LaBella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blake, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As far as risk taking goes, one of the biggest risks people take is quitting their day job or “9-5” or “main hustle. When that time came around for me, the “risk” actually wasn’t quitting the day job. It was not quitting the day job. At any moment when you are working for someone else, that person can decide at any point its time for you to go and you’ll lose all your income in one swoop. When working for yourself, at a company you started, you don’t necessarily have that problem. So in my life and business, I always analyze which behavior is “riskier” and rather than being frozen by fear, I take the one that makes the most sense.

What should our readers know about your business?
A big part of our business is consistency and community. Rather than treating artists on our roster like isolated islands, we have all of them work together on shows, new music, and networking. Traditional artist development companies and managers typically don’t have their artists works as closely as ours.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
hmmmm a full week in LA is a long time for anyone haha.

I would start them off by getting them involved in what the locals do. Go to the coffee shops where regulars hang out. Phillz is usually a staple coffee shop no matter where you are, and they have great coffee that’s brewed as a pour over so you really get the most out of each cup.

There’s also a little speakeasy near studio city that’s one of my favorite spots. I’d take someone there but I think it defeats the whole purpose of a speakeasy if I just put it out on the internet haha.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Morningbuzz, a band based out of Fort Worth, Tx that’s recently started touring LA. A couple of 21 year old kids that came into my studio 2 years ago changed my path from primarily running a studio to our company really stepping into develop and manage young artists.
