We had the good fortune of connecting with Braeden Ayub and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Braeden, why did you pursue a creative career?
This goes way back to doing math in school. I was never a fan of having to do things one specific way in order to get the right answer — I prefer to do whatever it takes to get the desired outcome, and an artistic/creative career allows for artistic/creative problem solving.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If there is one thing that sets me apart from others, it would have to be my odd sense of humor — it has been described as similar to the comedy of Napoleon Dynamite… If that makes any sense at all. It’s not easy, but I believe that’s because it’s hard to shake off the expectations that come with being a functioning adult in modern society. One of the tricks to unlocking your true potential is to ignore every part of you that says you need to conform, and try to resort back to the individualism you had as a child.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Assuming things go back to normal, I would take my friend to either an LAFC or a Dodger game. LAFC has such a unique and special environment and I believe anyone who experiences that for the first time will leave a soccer fan. The Griffith Observatory is a little cliche, but it has one of my favorite views of the Hollywood sign, especially right at sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Several people and organizations have helped me get to the point I am at today. The Cinema department at San Francisco State University, the UCLA Professional Program for screenwriting, my parents, and my fiancée’s endless supply of support have allowed me to pursue a career in screenwriting.
