We had the good fortune of connecting with Breon Bliss and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breon, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Kansas where there’s nothing much to do. We had to invent our own fun & spearhead our own “projects”. Whether it be a bike ride to go fishing or creating our own backyard game.

Kansas also has a strong work ethic & entrepreneurial streak. Most of us grew up farmers so we’re used to being our own boss & having to make it work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is all about my experiences & community. Everything I create comes from a place outside myself. EVERYTHING IS A REMIX.

My goal is to show others how much one can accomplish through moxie & then consistency. Any one can do it, all they have to do is well, do it.

Skill comes with that consistency. Success comes when that consistency is applied through influence & your community.

Of course I measure success by the opportunities & engagement I & my community has.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to go downtown & go on a taste tour. A friend of mine & I recently went on a el pastor taco truck tour of LA. I’m telling ya the taco truck at Santa Monica & Vine’s el pastor are the best.

I also love to ride the LA River bike path & stop in Frogtown to get some coffee at the Spoke cafe.

As far as people, I get a kick out of the Eastside. We love to explore open markets & smaller neighborhoods. My wife & I have a lot of friends who throw barbecues & if you hire a mariachi band we are there!

Also if yer in LA it’s imperative that you see a movie at one of our incredible independent movie houses like The Egyptian or The Vista. It’s the closest you can get to time traveling back to the heydays of Hollywood.

I would also highly suggest taking a tour of downtown & some of the amazing theatre spaces that are hear. LA can’t be beat for seeing live performance. Any night of the week you’ll find the best of the best here. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Farley is an incredible influence on me. I got back into creating images because of her encouragement & support. All the art I’ve created in the past 5 years never would’ve happened without her.
