We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Pearson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing outsiders often misunderstand about the aesthetic nursing industry is the level of medical expertise required. Many assume that procedures like Botox, dermal fillers, and laser treatments are simple beauty services, similar to getting a facial. However, these treatments require an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy, patient safety, and potential complications. As an aesthetic nurse practitioner, I assess each patient individually, ensuring treatments are both safe and effective while achieving natural-looking results. This field blends artistry with medical science, and while social media often showcases the glamorous side, there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes training, certifications, and ongoing education involved. Patient safety and ethical practice always come first, even in an industry that’s highly focused on beauty and outward appearance.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I’m an aesthetic nurse practitioner with a deep passion for helping people feel confident in their own skin. My journey into the world of aesthetics began with a love for both medicine and beauty, and I found the perfect blend of both in this field. Specializing in non-surgical cosmetic treatments, I focus on enhancing natural beauty while prioritizing patient safety and education.

What sets me apart is my commitment to a natural and personalized approach. I believe cosmetic treatments should enhance a person’s features, not completely change them. My goal is to help my patients feel like the best version of themselves, not someone else. I take the time to educate my patients, set realistic expectations, and prioritize safety over trends.

I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my patients and the trust they place in me. Seeing their confidence grow after treatment is incredibly rewarding. I’m also excited about the continuous advancements in aesthetic medicine. New techniques and technologies are always emerging, and I love staying at the forefront of the industry to offer the best possible care.

I’m especially excited about the future of regenerative medicine, particularly with the rise of exosome therapy in aesthetics. One groundbreaking innovation is a new company called ACORN, which has developed a cell banking system that allows individuals to extract growth factors from their own hair follicles. These cells are then harvested in a lab and can be used for cosmetic treatments like skin rejuvenation and hair restoration. This is a game-changer for aesthetics, introducing a personalized and regenerative approach to anti-aging treatments.

It wasn’t easy getting here. My journey required years of education, training, and hands-on experience. I had to prove myself in a very competitive industry and constantly push myself to refine my skills. Fortunately, I’ve had an incredible mentor, Rand Rusher, who guided me and taught me the importance of safe and effective treatments. His mentorship played a huge role in shaping my career.

Challenges have arisen along the way, whether navigating industry misconceptions, dealing with self-doubt, or balancing the business and clinical aspects of aesthetics. The key to overcoming them has been perseverance, continuous learning, and surrounding myself with experienced professionals who inspire and push me to grow. I’ve also learned to trust the process and remain patient.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that less is more in aesthetic medicine. Restraint and subtlety often lead to the best results. Another lesson is that patient trust is everything. Being honest and ethical in every consultation builds long-term relationships and credibility. And finally, never stop learning. The industry is always evolving, and staying educated is key to success.

I want the world to know that my approach to aesthetics is built on honesty, integrity, and a true passion for helping people feel their best. My goal is to create beautiful, natural-looking results while ensuring that my patients feel safe, informed, and empowered in their decisions. My story is one of dedication, mentorship, and continuous growth, and I hope to inspire others who are looking to enter the field with the same passion and purpose.

If your best friend were visiting Los Angeles and you wanted to show them the best time ever, where would you take them? Let’s imagine it’s a week-long trip—what would the itinerary look like? Where would you eat, drink, visit, and hang out?

Los Angeles has so many amazing spots to show off. If I were planning a trip, I’d mix iconic attractions with hidden gems, offering a unique experience that captures the city’s vibrant energy. Here’s a rough itinerary for a classic LA adventure:

Day 1: We’d start with a hike at Runyon Canyon for stunning city views—maybe even catch a glimpse of a celebrity! For brunch, I’d take them to Great White in Venice. It’s laid-back, and their avocado toast and coffee are a must. In the afternoon, we could explore Beverly Hills or head to the Getty for breathtaking art, architecture, and gardens. To wrap up the day, I’d treat them to dinner at Teleferic in Brentwood for some delicious paella.

Day 2: I’d make sure to hit some of the classic tourist spots. We’d check out the Santa Monica Pier and stroll along the Venice Boardwalk, then maybe drive down the coast to Malibu for a meal at Nobu Malibu, with oceanfront views. In the evening, we’d head to West Hollywood for drinks at places like Andy’s or The Nice Guy, where you can enjoy great music and a cool lounge vibe.

As someone originally from North Carolina, I love adding a bit of my southern roots into the mix when I have visitors. Desert 5 in Hollywood is one of my favorite places to take people. We can line dance and jam to country classics—it’s always a fun time. I also like to take a quick road trip with anyone visiting, whether that’s to Joshua Tree or Santa Barbara, just to show them what’s outside the bustling city.

LA really does have something for everyone, and that’s why I love living here. Exploring the different neighborhoods makes every trip feel fresh and exciting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would like to dedicate this recognition to Rand Rusher of RUSH TO BEAUTY, who brings over 30 years of experience in the world of aesthetics. Rand has been an incredible mentor, taking me under his wing and guiding me through the art and science of cosmetic treatments. His expertise, passion, and commitment to safe, effective aesthetic care have significantly shaped the way I approach my practice and techniques.

Rand has not only taught me the technical skills needed to enhance natural beauty, but he has also instilled in me the importance of balance, ethics, and patient-centered care. His philosophy of achieving beautiful, natural results without going overboard has been invaluable on my journey as an aesthetic nurse practitioner. I am beyond grateful for his mentorship and the wealth of knowledge he has shared with me over the past few years.
