We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I’ve been so blessed throughout my career, and I genuinely believe that when you get, you should give; what you learn, you should teach. I want to be remembered as an artist who wasn’t afraid to pass along opportunities, educate, and mentor upcoming artist
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being in business is hard, but in the words of the great Nipsey Hussle, ” I just didn’t quit,” and when struggles come, I remind myself of my “why.”
My why has always been to show my younger sisters and my future daughter that you don’t have to take the traditional career path or conform to what society says a woman should be. You can be whatever you put your mind to.
What sets me apart from other artist is, I’m ok with skipping the trends. Most people are afraid not to be “on trend” because they fear they won’t be in demand, but I pride myself on being authentic in my art and trusting my creativity.
I say this humbly, but I have so many things to be proud of, which I’m happy to say because there was a time when I felt like I had nothing to celebrate despite my success, But if I had to choose one thing, it would be my podcast “BTS with Britt.”
Whenever somebody leaves a review or tags me in a social media post sharing how the podcast is transforming their career, my heart smiles.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Frist and formorst, God. I wouldn’t be where I am without him. My family, for constantly pouring love into me and reminding me of my worth.
And lastly, my mentor and friend, Sallie Keena, for believing in me and giving me a chance when nobody else would.
