Meet Brittney Nichole | Creator & Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Nichole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittney, how do you think about risk?
Typically when people hear the word risk, they automatically associate it with danger. Now in most cases, when you read or hear of people taking a risk something bad comes out of it. But then you have those risk takers who combine faith with risk to produce success. When taking risks there will always be a possibility that you either fail or succeed, it all depends on how you choose to view it. I think about succeeding every single time I put my mind to something that others claim is “to risky”. Being a risk taker has made me into the woman, entrepreneur, student, and business woman I am today. In 2015 I found myself jobless and depressed because life was just not going the way I had intended for it to go. I had graduated from Norfolk State University in 2012 with my BA in Political Science and had not landed to dream job to jump start my career as an aspiring family attorney. I was watching everyone around me do and live the way I had wanted too and it was eating me alive. One day I prayed and I asked God to give me a hobby and to make that hobby a passion that I would love and invest in. That is when RerunTrendz was born and my business launched. Fast forward to April 2021, I decided that I wanted to take things a little further (in the midst of a pandemic) and release my very own sock line. Some people said to me, “Britt, are you sure about this? It’s very risky given the state of the world we are in. What if people do not purchase anything?” Those words literally went in one ear and out the other. I was determined to take the risk and see where this would take me. Lets just say my decision was worth the risk!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently I am a paralegal for a law firm in NYC. I work for one of the top 10 attorneys in the city of NY and my boss just so happens to be a young black female! I started out as an intern trying to gain my last few credits for law school. It has always been my dream and goal to become the first lawyer in my family and this was literally a shoe in the door. Once my internship was over I remember sending an email to my boss and thanking her for the opportunity to work for and with her and told her that the following week would be my last. She quickly replied and said, “Brittney how would you like to stay on full-time.” I guess its self explanatory from there. I would like to note that this is my first job ever in my field of study, so when the opportunity presented itself I was so excited. It was so difficult prior to this start of my career working for companies that literally just ran you into the ground and would discard of you when they no longer had need of you. I felt like I was a robot just working for a paycheck and not loving what I did. It took me some time to get to where I am but I am so glad that I am finally here.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So when my girlfriends come into town, I always take them into Harlem, NY because you can find the best food, drinks, music, and people! So our first stop would be to Corner Social! The vibe can be anything that you make it. This is the place where we get a good meal the music is just right and the white sangria is EVERYTHING! After that, the night is ours and we are hitting Harlem Tavern, Angel of Harlem, and more. These are the places where the music and drinks are on point! After we have danced the night away, we grad some quick soul food at Amy Ruth’s…whewww! This food here is the absolute truth. I always get the smothered pork chops with Mac-&- cheese and yams!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my mom, a single mom who raised three girls on her own! I watched my mom struggle to make sure that we were taken care of. She made sure that we all went to school and did not become a statistic. Once we all graduated from college, my mom went back to finish her college education and received her Bachelors degree. Anytime I come to her with a business idea she is always there to support and to pray!
I also want to shoutout my Pastor who literally puts emphasis on being a business owner and having multiple streams of income. She taught me how to write the vision and make it plain, and I did just that! Love you Pastor Aunt Tont!
