Meet Bryan Jimenez: Brand Strategist, Creative Director & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Business equals opportunity. Having stemmed from a less than privileged beginning, this meant I could potentially create my own opportunities. This realization was huge for me, it opened up my mind to possibilities I could not previously fathom. I realized that the impossible could become possible, you just need to go out and grab it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I run a small branding agency called Archimedes Strategic Branding in southern California. What sets us apart is our holistic strategy-first approach and our focus on helping science and technology organizations. Many branding firms do nice looking art & design, but without considering effectiveness towards fulfilling the business objectives, the target market needs, and the overall customer experience. Archimedes Strategic Branding starts with strategy in order to discover the prerequisite business and customer insights required for building effective branded experiences, and then we craft those branded experiences in a way that delights. I’m most proud of the impact we’ve had on organizations and the people in them, including helping them achieve success beyond their expectations. We’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most well-known brands in the world including Harley-Davidson, US Department of Energy, NASCAR, Wacom, and more. It wasn’t an easy journey. I grew up poor and abused, so the psychological scars made any progress painfully slow. Nonetheless I pushed hard to move forward. I stumbled my way into a design company, doing aesthetic-focused graphic design but not really knowing a better way since I didn’t formally go to college or art school. Though limited in my formal schooling I was thirsty for knowledge, constantly learning whatever I could get my hands on. Then I hit a metaphorical wall in my design, but after a few years of more searching and learning I realized what was missing: Strategy, the bridge that connects design to customers and business. I realized I had to pivot, so I made the choice to invest in a course by the #1 marketing school in the world, The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. I’ve always been the proverbial underdog, the outlier. Consequently there were great challenges, but it was worth the hard work to overcome them. As a child I was told everyday that I was worthless, and I believed it. Now I stand erect, with my shoulders back, feeling confident and valued. Don’t let others dictate to you the path that you should take. Read carefully though, I’m being very specific when I say don’t let others “dictate” to you. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t listen to reason or let others suggest things to us. Humans are limited beings, so we all need a bit of help at times. I’ve learned many profound lessons along the way, some were life-changing. Here are a few off the top of my head: – Don’t be led astray by popular assumptions, seek the knowledge for yourself. – Stand for something. – Think and act reasonably, despite the social norms and pressures. – Caveat Emptor: Buyer beware, do your due diligence. – Temet Nosce: Know thyself. – Carpe Diem: Seize the day, don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today. – Know more today than you did yesterday. – Settle accounts quickly – Don’t be afraid of change, embrace it – Seek truth – Follow the evidence wherever it may lead you – The impossible becomes possible only when you think it’s possible – Keep the doors to dialectic dialogue open, communication is key – You are valuable
