We had the good fortune of connecting with Callie Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Callie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time I was starting my business, my daughter was 3 years old. In my freetime I was assisting newly engaged friends with their wedding planning. I absolutely loved it! I wanted to show my daughter Kennedy that taking risks and getting out of your comfort zone had its rewards. With help from my boyfriend, we came up K. Rose Events! I decided to name it after my daughter Kennedy Rose with the hope that she sees women can run businesses as well as their homes.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I love to build relationships with my clients. A lot of planners or coordinators I know and have worked with will give a specific timeline to when and how they can be reached, and when the planning process will begin. I believe it is important for me to know my clients. I want to know all their needs and expectations. I’m helping them plan the most important day of their lives so I want them to trust me and know they can always count on me to be there for them. I get so excited when their happy day arrives and I know that I was there for them every step of this process. I only get sad when it’s over and I know I might not talk to them again.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am lucky enough to live by Temecula. I feel like I’m smack dab in the middle of all the fun. Day 1 – San Diego. We’re going to the zoo for the day, hitting North Park for a late lunch and downtown for dinner and drinks.
Day 2 and 3 – Orange County. Disneyland is a must and the beaches day 3. Probably Laguna Beach though and if it’s during the summer we are for sure going to Pageant of the Masters.
Day 4 – LA. Maybe a dodger game (if it’s the right season) and LACMA
Day 5 – Palm Springs. Hit the tram to the mountain during the day and restaurants and bars at night.
Day 6 and 7 – Big Bear. Let’s finish the trip with fresh air and beautiful greenery. Don’t get to see much of it around here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I absolutely want to give credit to my boyfriend Richard. If it wasn’t for him, I would have never started K. Rose Events.
