We had the good fortune of connecting with Calvin Jean and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Calvin, how do you think about risk?
Ima a Huge risk taker! The biggest risk I ever took was moving across the country and away from my family to chase a dream in the entertainment industry. Before I fully immersed myself into the industry I had to quit my 9-5 job which actually took a leap of faith for me to do. Once I did all these opportunities and connections starting working in my favor, it was a big boost to my career and living because for the first time I was in total control of my life. Taking risks has made me to who I am today !
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well being in the entertainment industry I get to be in a position to express my creative side. Im most proud of the fact that I just picked up this skill as I was leaning too navigating where I fit in and make a name for myself. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today it took a lot of working for people who didn’t value my time and energy. It looks long hours of waiting, getting turned down hundreds if not thousands of times, it took tears and sacrifices and not knowing what the future holds for me but be the I took a leap of faith everything started to change for me. Being consistent really helped my overcome the tough moment in my journey. Biggest advice and lessons I’ve received is closed mouths don’t get fed. I won’t the world to know that the mission and vision I have to help others go far beyond my own ideas and that you never know whats really guiding and influencing your story so be open to the possibilities that enter your life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If friends or family came to visit me I would have an adventure packed week. First we would go to the Manhattan beach and soak up the sun and play some beach volleyball with the locals and have some drinks. Then catch a comedy shop later that night at the laugh factory in Hollywood. Next day we hike the Griffith observatory and catch some of the best views in LA and hit up a restaurant in the area some vegan friendly. towards the end of the night we can go bowling in Santa Monica and hit the night life after on the pier. Next few days id take the opportunity to drive to Yosemite National park and camp out over there and spent time exploring all the trails and beauty it has to offer around the season.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All glory to GOD!
