We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecilia Artioli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cecilia, what do you attribute your success to?
As an architect, I believe the most important factor behind my success is a combination of creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication.

Creativity is essential in architecture as it allows me to envision innovative designs and solutions. It enables me to think outside the box and create spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. By pushing the boundaries of conventional design, I can bring unique and inspiring concepts to life.

Attention to detail is another critical factor. Architecture is a complex discipline that requires a meticulous approach. I pay careful attention to every aspect of a project, from the overall design to the smallest construction details. By ensuring precision and accuracy, I can create structures that are not only visually appealing but also structurally sound and functional.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an architect, my professional journey has been a culmination of dedication, perseverance, and overcoming various challenges. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but the obstacles I encountered along the way have helped shape me into the architect I am today.

One of the initial challenges I faced was establishing myself in a competitive industry. Building a reputation and gaining recognition takes time and effort. I had to showcase my skills, creativity, and unique approach to design through projects and collaborations. By consistently delivering high-quality work and nurturing professional relationships, I gradually gained the trust and respect of clients and peers.

Moreover, the architectural field is constantly evolving with new technologies, sustainability practices, and design trends. Staying updated and embracing continuous learning has been crucial. I invested time in professional development, attending workshops, conferences, and engaging in ongoing education to expand my knowledge and skills. Adapting to change and embracing innovation has allowed me to deliver cutting-edge designs and stay relevant in the industry.

In terms of my brand and story, I want the world to know that I am passionate about architecture and dedicated to creating spaces that positively impact people’s lives. I strive to design buildings that not only meet functional requirements but also inspire, engage, and promote sustainability. Collaborating with clients and understanding their unique needs and aspirations is at the heart of my design approach.

Ultimately, my professional journey as an architect has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. Through perseverance, continuous learning, and a commitment to delivering exceptional designs, I have been able to overcome obstacles and create meaningful architectural experiences.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Tokyo, I would create a personalized itinerary to ensure they have an unforgettable experience.

We would begin our journey by immersing ourselves in the energy of Shibuya. I would take them to experience the iconic Shibuya Crossing, feeling the pulse of the city as we navigate through the bustling streets.

Being architects, we would be fascinated by Tokyo’s impressive architecture. I would show my friend the soaring heights of the Tokyo Skytree, allowing us to take in panoramic views of the city and admire its modern design. We would also explore Roppongi Hills, where contemporary architectural wonders blend seamlessly with art installations, creating a unique experience.

To discover the contrasts between tradition and modernity, we would venture to the quaint district of Yanaka. Its narrow streets, ancient temples, and traditional houses would transport us back in time. Later, we would head to Odaiba, a futuristic area, where we can marvel at cutting-edge architecture and immerse ourselves in a digital art wonderland at teamLab Borderless.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In my architecture journey, I owe a special mention to my parents, whose unwavering support and encouragement have been invaluable. From the early days of my fascination with buildings and design, they nurtured my passion and provided me with the resources and opportunities to explore this field.

I am also grateful for my studies, which have laid the foundation for my career. The rigorous education and training I received in architecture school equipped me with the necessary knowledge, skills, and design principles. The countless hours spent in studios, working on projects and collaborating with classmates, have shaped me into the architect I am today.

Moreover, I am indebted to all the people I have encountered throughout my journey as an architect. From mentors who guided me with their wisdom and expertise, to fellow architects who inspired me with their innovative ideas, each interaction has been a source of growth and inspiration. Collaborating with engineers, contractors, and other professionals has taught me the importance of teamwork and effective communication in bringing architectural visions to life.
