We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Trujillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
This question I get asked all the time! So I hope that my answer inspires others who have trouble with this work-life balance theme. As a mother of 2, owner of 2 businesses, an artist, a musician and a designer, and married to a touring musician, I had to find a solution, and to me the best sign of a good life balance is your level of happiness and fulfillment!!
I am a workaholic, and that’s my personality, but family time is also very important to me, so I had to learn to organize my schedule in a way that works.
I have a method, every sunday night I write down what I need to accomplish work wise, I look at my appointments, meetings, kids activities, I know that everyday I need time to meditate, exercise, write and sing. That’s how my weekly schedule is built, and the free time left is extra for fun, friends, hikes, dinners, learning new things, etc…

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always knew I was an artist, growing up in Paris, France with fashion designer and artist parents, being surrounded by other artists and musicians, I was also a gifted mathematician. My father wanting what’s best for my future, inspired me to keep my university studies in the scientific field, I was also a licensed pilot at age fourteen, this confused me as to where my life path would take me…. I was at the same time drawing, painting, writing, singing and designing clothes…An offer for a big art show changed my perspective. But life has ups and downs, it’s not until a really bad “attack” which I survived, that I realized my true calling was in the arts!
An audition brought me to NYC, where I sang in cabarets and musicals, and then, of course the fine arts called too as another mode of expression.
From that attack, I needed to heal, and I started a deep spiritual practice, became a reiki practioner, a tarot and angel cards reader, studied shamanism, energy healing, and a lot of different modalities who opened up a whole new world. I immediately felt a strong connection to Source, receiving messages and visions, that I express through my paintings and my songs.
My designs are also born from my paintings.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Venice beach, I would take them to eat at Great White and then roller skate with me on the boardwalk! I love the energy of Venice! If my friend is into shopping, I’d take them to Abbott Kinney or Lincoln Blvd. I would take them to a yoga class, grab a smoothie, feel the whole LA experience. Another place I love is Topanga, there are amazing hikes, I know a few secret ones that have tunnels, waterfalls and beautiful shaped rocks. We could eat there at Cafe Mimosa (owned by another french woman like me) or Topanga Living Cafe, both have super healthy options for food, snacks and drinks (Matcha Latte!!) and there I also love to visit “Hidden Treasures” a super cool thrift shop.
Then of course there’s the LACMA, the Getty, the Broad and other museums.
I also would take them to Griffith park and the Griffith Observatory! oh and the Rose Bowl flea market

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Can I be frank? It’s really the “attack” I survived that made me stronger and is a big part of who I am today. I made bolder choices after that, I worked on myself so much, I know who I really am and what my purpose is. Purpose is everything
