We had the good fortune of connecting with Claire Eisel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claire, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
An artistic/creative career was the last thing on my mind, initially. I studied science and worked as a scientist in my career at first- everyone else in my immediate family was an engineer or scientist, and I believed at the time that the arts were not a “practical” career choice! Then, I had a business opportunity where I ended up getting to do a lot of design, that totally changed my mind about pursuing a creative career! I also rediscovered my love for creating art through that work, which I had kind of left aside since I left high school! Today, I feel that it music/the arts are my calling and my way to be of maximum service in the world, and I hope I am able to touch others’ lives by doing so!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I went from being a scientist in a very traditional, corporate career path, to having a property management & design business, to a creative career path through music! Has this journey been easy? No. One of the most helpful things I have found is to have people in your life who support you in your dream and can encourage you if things are not going as you would like, as well as people who are pursuing their own dream and
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have not lived in LA all that long- it has been entirely through the pandemic so far! So I have not experienced all of the things that might be open normally.
That said, I love to go hiking, so we would probably spend part of the morning exploring the trails at Griffith Park or Runyon Canyon, and then head out to a tasty lunch! I am a big foodie and I love vegan and gluten-free food- we would probably head to Powerplant Cafe, Taco Vega, or good old Erewhon for some great food and hopefully baked goods!
Then, we might head to Venice Beach and explore what the different street vendors had to offer- always so much fun being there! After that, we would probably head to Hollywood or West Hollywood for dinner, and then find a place with live music or a club afterwards – hopefully those things will be up and running in LA soon!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mom! Although she was skeptical about me pursuing music and a creative career path at first, she has come to be very supportive and encouraging! She has also given me so much support during the difficult times in my life- I would definitely not be here if it was not for her. I would also like to give a shoutout to Eckhart Tolle through his books on spirituality and consciousness- they have really helped me in my growth as a human and I try to incorporate the practices I learned in his books every day…
