We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Uwem Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Uwem, every day, we hear about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
When you think of “recovery”, what comes to mind? Drug addicts and alcoholics, right? Well, I entered the recovery world because, as my husband revealed his struggles with sexual integrity and pornography addiction, my temper was HOT! And as a stay at home mom, I started to see that my inner chaos was impacting my relationships with my children. Support groups gave me safe spaces to feel and heal as God put our marriage back together. But after leading in that ministry for a while, I started to see a pattern with a lot of attendees where they would come for a while, progress some, quit, and come back years later feeling defeated and even more consumed by their struggle or a new one. I realized that people weren’t fully stepping into their story or their healing. The shame was still there. Then in 2020, the whole dang world imploded, and I realized it felt super awkward to tell a circle of well-meaning white women how it felt to be a Black woman in America during riots, police brutality, uncensored Trump comments, and ALL the other chaos of that year. So I felt the need to create a space for women like me to heal and heal COMPLETELY. I started very slowly to share my story with women around me and I realized my story impacted people. It brought hope to women who didn’t see a way out of their pain. So I began writing and designing our signature program, Me Made Well, a culturally-sensitive, spiritually-thought-provoking recovery program. Fast forward several years, and, now, I teach classes where participants learn the core of ALL MADE WELL…••OWN it • VOICE it • HEAL it • CONQUER it•• Shame made us want to hide our marriage struggles. My #CONQUERit is kicking the shame, sharing what God did with us to bring hope to those looking for it. Our Company Vision says “Our stories are meant to change the world.” We just need to heal and #VOICEit. ALL MADE WELL and our collection of programs for individuals, couples, and organizations…this is my #CONQUERit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In addition to being a mindset Recovery coach, healing my heart also gave me the courage to do graphic design professionally. I have been doing it since middle school but impostor syndrome prevented me from embracing it. So as I was creating ALL MADE WELL, I also started taking on graphic and web design clients. So I did all of the branding for ALL MADE WELL myself and I have to say that is one of my greatest accomplishments. I learned how to do web design because I needed a website. I modified and adjusted the logos until it felt right and now I have organizations and entrepreneurs reaching out to me with huge projects in mind all because of the site I created for ALL MADE WELL. The feeling of the brand is BOLD—yellow, black, and white are the main colors. I want people to step into ALL MADE WELL and feel fired up and unwilling to hide anymore. The apparel line—HEAL. OUT. LOUD., from the OVHC Apparel & SwagShop offers that same boldness in clothing and accessories because there is no shame in healing. The logos have circles to reflect our commitment to community and healing. Wholeness. It has been several years since I began working on ALL MADE WELL, but this journey has connected all of the dots from childhood through to today. This is what I was always meant to do and bringing marginalized people into a space where they can heal and be unleashed into their greatness is exhilarating! It has definitely NOT been easy, but on this side of healing and finding my purpose, I wouldn’t change a single moment of the journey. I got way more than I ever dreamt of. And I’m just getting started!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not really a go-see-the-town kinda girl. My hidden introvert starts to slip out with stuff like that. Hook me up with a journal and the beach with some headphones and I’m good. Can we drop in on Sarah Jakes Roberts at One•LA? Go make Bianca Olthoff my new BFF at The Father’s House OC? That’s really all I’d do. I’m healed, happy, and pretty boring.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest supporter was by far my husband, Keith Ward. He was my number one investor and my emotional coach through the whole process. He stepped all the way in with where God was taking us and it has been an honor and a beautiful ride watching what God had in store for us. We experienced a level of healing that most don’t even believe is possible. And his growth and his character is unmatched. My journey has been life hanging and I got to do it with my best friend. And I also want to SHOUTOUT my amazing friend of over 12 years and first client/first All Made Well Graduate, Rachel Robinson, CEO & Mastermind behind Raecheliris Organic Spa Gifts. She supported me in all the variations of AMW as I was developing it and she allowed me into her heart and her journey and it was beautiful to watch her grow through our time together. And while in pilot form, she paid me in the more mind blowing bath bombs ever!! I couldn’t imagine a better SHOUTOUT!!
