We had the good fortune of connecting with Cole Medders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cole, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Simply being myself. Building a competitive business as a personal trainer in an over saturated market like LA can be extremely challenging. I found that incorporating what makes me unique and special as a person directly into my business has incredible results. I am a professional rock climber, college level swimmer, endurance runner, and competitive body builder. I’ve embraced all of my passions and created a fitness regiment that is functional, fun, and continuously changing. It encourages my clients to try new activities while getting them into the best shape of their lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently run my own personal training business and recently began as a partner at Revived Outdoors/Media. As a personal trainer I like to incorporate a large variety of cross training into my programming. I have my clients doing everything from lifting weights to climbing hundreds of feet up a sheer cliff. I believe deeply that the human body is meant to be used to explore run jump and climb. It feels natural, keeping us young mentally and physically. At Revived Outdoors we continue this philosophy in a community setting taking groups into the wilderness for adventures of a lifetime. We run trips all over the world and also right here in our own backyard. Activities include backpacking, skiing, climbing, white water rafting, RV road trips, surfing, and even retreats with guest speakers. Our goal is to simply create communities where anyone feels welcome and safe to explore this big beautiful world with us

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think the most incredible thing about LA is it’s location. In a single day you could surf in Malibu, climb and hike in the Santa Monica mountains and ski up in Big Bear. Not only are there infinite options in and around LA but just a few hours away you can explore giant red wood forests or trek deep into the high Sierras. This makes LA such an incredible launching point for endless adventures. if I had a week to share with someone I’d start south in Joshua tree National park, then ferry out to Catalina for a Greece reminiscent getaway. After that you’d still have time to check out the city before heading up into the San Bernardino wilderness and hiking around at 10,000 ft elevation

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am where I’m at today because of a highly supportive but challenging group of friends. At the top of that list is Tristan Hamm owner and business partner of Revived Outdoors. Together we push our limits in the mountains and in the professional world. Accountability is key in achieving your goals and Tristan has kept me accountable every step of the way. Together soon we hope to open a non profit that is dedicated to getting the upcoming generation off their phones and into the great outdoors in order to foster a love and interest in preserving our planet
