We had the good fortune of connecting with Cyndy Eldredge Radovich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cyndy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had a client that I worked with who was struggling outside of the typical work environment and didn’t feel like I had any other choice. When he was fired from his first job, I immediately started fundraising for a coffee shop that would employ individuals with developmental disabilities, because there was nothing in the Treasure Valley that provided jobs for those individuals specifically. I didn’t necessarily have a thought process. I just acted.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My life has certainly not been easy. I moved to Boise after losing my love, MIkey to a helicopter crash in Savannah, Georgia and had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I had my college degree in teaching and still had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I answered an ad on craigslist to assist a local Psychologist and become a trainee and have been fortunate enough to follow my career path all the way along. I have since received my Master’s in Autism Spectrum Disorders and fall in love with the field of Developmental Disabilities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take anyone who came to visit up to Lucky Peak and then up to Idaho City for a dinner at Diamond Lil’s or Gold Mine. If we had enough time, I would take them to Trinity Hot Springs for a soak in the amazing and natural hot springs that my love and I enjoy so often.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All of the credit for what I do goes to my community of people in the developmental disability field. More often than not, those individuals who fall upon a spectrum or who do not fall upon the norm of society are discriminated against when it comes to employment and so many other things. For the sake of this article, we will stick with the issues of employment. All over the world, individuals with developmental disabilities are overlooked for jobs that they are perfectly capable of doing. At Sweet Zola’s, we are aiming to prove that the only disability in life is a bad attitude.
