We had the good fortune of connecting with Daisi Pollard Sepulveda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daisi, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I believe having a “perfect” work-life balance is more of a myth than a reality. Taking time for yourself, your family, and friends are important to your relationships and your mental and emotional health. However, constantly trying to evenly split those things up can make you extremely unhappy. I’ve found that most of the content out there attempting to help people curate “optimal” work-life balance is selling people false hopes and dreams. My approach has drastically changed over time. When I first started out in business, I believed and tried to practice what I was consuming on the subject – even when it wasn’t what I wanted to do or what really made me happy. Since I’ve evolved my approach. During my downtime, I really love spending time at home. I don’t feel like I need to catch up with every single friend over say, the weekend. I find that now more than ever, my meetups and hangouts have to have a lot of substance to them because I get intellectually bored. I’ve been working from home in one form or another for most of my career and now that we’re all currently working and socializing online; I’ve become more disciplined about how much time I’m spending in front of a screen. So I’m opting out of more non-essential Zoom calls and scheduling most of my social media posts so that I don’t get sucked into the endless feeds. I’m also watching less Netflix and doing more reading of physical books.

My Product Model began from seeing a gap in the market between brands having access to an inventory of content and content creation. My Product Model offers inclusive packaging for product modeling, photography, and video solutions for e-commerce fashion and beauty brands, Amazon Sellers, Etsy Shops, and eBay Sellers. Our packages come with everything you need for a flat rate. Part of my background is in modeling, acting, and beauty pageants. I’ve also started several businesses in different industries over the years. One of my very first businesses was in talent-first content, vertical content creation, and social distribution during the early days of social media websites. I had a studio, professional-grade equipment, and I would pitch brands concepts, shoot them, and distribute the content to my social media audience on sites like MySpace. This was 2005 so I was very early in this industry and this model hadn’t quite caught on but I didn’t quit. I learned, practiced, and evolved as the industry matured. Now there are lots of players in the content creation agency business. There’s always something to learn from what other people are doing such as techniques, sales strategies, and ways to expand the business. We specialize in highly stylized and glamourized content creation. If you’re looking for content that goes beyond the white backdrop, beyond the generic DTC aesthetic – that’s our sweet spot.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in DTLA so there are endless things to do, explore, and eat. Each day would definitely involve going to Bottega Louie because that’s my favorite restaurant. Assuming my best friend is a runner like me, we’d go on running tours across downtown covering a different area every day. Exploring the museums in the area is also a lot of fun. The Broad is essential to visit when one comes to DTLA. There are a ton of rooftops in DTLA – Spire, Perch, The Standard, etc. The Dorthy Chandler Pavilion is another must-see.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all of my clients, customers, and entrepreneurs out there sticking to it during these times! Your energy and dedication are really inspiring and motivating!
