We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Meave-Caterino-Hummitsch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, my everything partner already has his own business (17 years and strong). I have been helping him run his for almost 6 years now. He asked me one day what I wanted to do. I thought that was one of the most difficult questions I have ever been asked. I have always loved helping people that is why I got a degree in nursing, but I did not have my passion and drive in that profession. Therefore, I had to really think of what I enjoy doing, and where I could have a diversification of what I was doing weekly to not have the exact same thing repeatedly. That is when I knew I would have to start my own business to do exactly that. I had to find a business that I could organize, be creative, enjoy my work and see myself doing for a long time. I had to combine all my favorite things if I was going to do this right. It needed to have decorating, cooking, baking, planning, and details. When I could not find what I was looking for I decided to make my own business. This is how Weddings, Unicorn Wings & Amazing Things! was created.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited about couples who understand my untapped potential. Who help me grow and try new things to make their wedding so special. I do not think anyone got to where they are today easily. I am one of those people. I had so many challenges in my first year. So many people since I was new and barely had a portfolio did not want to take chance on me. Corona virus came within my first year and took away all the weddings I had planned. I overcame all this by not accepting defeat and staying positive that with time and practice things will change, and they did! The lessons I have learned is to never give up, always stay positive, and tomorrow is another day. I want the world to know that I absolutely love helping couples with their special day. That my brand is not ordinary. That this is not just work to me but my passion. That my story is always evolving and growing as will my company.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To the LA Flower mart. The Donut Man in Glendora.. Lotus Garden In Azusa. La Tolteca in Azusa. The old car shows in Pasadena. The flee Market in Pasadena. These are just my top places I would take a friend. The itinerary would be to go to show many cities in Cali and give them the real treat of what we all get to experience.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to thank my soulmate. To the only man who has loved me and stood by me through everything. Your constant love and support has been everything. Without you none of this would be possible. I would not be who I am today. To my clients for trusting me to make your day extra special. For my family who has helped make me the way I am.
