Meet Dariana Brown | Assistant Director of African American Reconstruction | Master’s Athletic Training Student

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dariana Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dariana, what do you want people to remember about you?
I aim to be remembered as a beacon of positivity and support in the lives of others. I strive to brighten someone’s day, offer guidance in times of uncertainty, and be a source of warmth and encouragement when someone needs it most. Being a light in other people’s lives and leaving behind a trail of positivity and kindness would be a wonderful legacy to have.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Assistant Director for African American Reconstruction (AAR). African American Reconstruction is an organization founded by 17-23-year-old African American students on May 30, 2020, in Phoenix, Arizona. Our mission is to start a necessary Reconstruction Era dedicated to the advancement of the African-American Community by reconstructing the education system, balancing the notable economic disparity, implementing equal justice policies, bringing political equity, and creating avenues for affordable and available healthcare. Running AAR has its challenges because of the responsibilities we decide to take on, however since the team and I have such a strong passion for reconstructing the African-American community, we are always able to accomplish the goals we have set through diligent and consistent efforts as well as creating like-minded action based partners. One of the biggest lessons that I have taken away so far in my career is that when we have faith and God is at the forefront of our plans, he will make a way so we can continue honoring Him.
Over the last three years, we have hosted several key events such as our annual 5k + festival, and the teen conference. These events serve as catalysts for change, bringing together like-minded individuals, influencers, and advocates under one roof. They create spaces for dialogue, education, and action, amplifying the voices and concerns of the African-American community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank everyone who counted me out from different opportunities. Their skepticism was the catalyst that fueled my determination to push beyond boundaries and achieve my goals. It’s a recognition of the lessons learned from their disbelief, turning their doubts into a powerful source of motivation and inspiration to prove that I am capable of far more than ever imagined.
