We had the good fortune of connecting with David Cardena and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what do you attribute your success to?
Our team. There are four of us making choices and decisions and we value everyone’s input and perspective. This type of dynamic collaboration gives our events a feeling of being vibrant and alive.

What should our readers know about your business?
La Junta events feel like big family party’s because we (the collective) are a family and we treat our guest like family. We set a the tone that when you come to our event no matter who you are or how you identify you are welcome and safe. Building the brand was a matter of time, consistency, attention to detail and a commitment to giving the guest an experience they enjoyed enough to bring a friend or with them the next time. Some of our challenges were wanting to elevate the production value of our events with things like better sound & lights but not having the capitol to make those purchases. Banks are not lining up to give loans to “Party promoters”. we had to set a side a percentage of any profit from each event till we had enough to make the next incremental purchase. So each year our gear got a little better as we bought and sold our way up to where we wanted to be. When People think of La Junta I want them to think of good times, Great Music, and awesome friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
La Cita for some dancing, Roscoes in Pasadena for some breakfast, Boyle heights for a beer at Xelas, & Birria at Don Boni, Tacos sin Karma for some bomb vegan food, Full house in china town for those post club meals. Drive out to Malibu to watch a sunset, Hike to Chantry flats, visit the science center in Expedition park. Shit I could on and on. Lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Off the top Id say my grandparents and Parents. They never discouraged me from perusing things that I was interested in no matter if they quiet didn’t understand, agree or how foolishly dangerous it was. LoL My wife and kids. My Wife is one of the founding members of our collective and major part of our success. She and our kids are very supportive about my entrepreneurship and artistic journey. My Partners Glen & Yuki. Huge talent, humble people, a desire to produce something worthy of guest time, and two of the baddest DJs I know.
