We had the good fortune of connecting with De Camille and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi De Camille, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When you are an artist you know that you can never give up at your passion. The concept of this being a risk is interesting because while on one hand it is indeed a huge risk, until you realize down to your core, that you could never be happy doing anything else. It is then that you know that the only risk is dissatisfaction; working to make money and not living your life’s purpose. As challenging as it has been, I would not change it for anything.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am painting now to help uplift my art collector in a profoundly personal way.

I have been collaborating more than ever directly with my Patrons to create works that inspire their higher selves. They have been sharing their dreams and memories with me; we discuss their ideal future and I create a painting for them.

Maybe you miss traveling?

I can distill the essence of your experience through  the bristles of my brush.

We are home more than ever before, so it is vital that what we look at fills us with inspiration and motivates our desire to thrive. We are all visual beings and the more we are immersed with imagery which uplifts and leads us to fulfill our dreams, the more we will be on our path.

I want to give you a daily reminder of your unique place in this world, and remind you to keep feeding yourself with the Self-Love your soul deserves.

We are all interconnected and community. I feel such compassion for those who are suffering–emotionally, psychologically or physically.  Although there are also outside forces upon us, when I distill my own pain and suffering down, I have always realized that my pain was directly proportionate to how much or little I was loving and accepting myself.

Maybe this collaborative project can help someone you know and care about who is going through a very hard time right now? Think of gifting someone the gift of a painting all about them to inspire them.   When we have an image of the future to cling to and are comforted by our memories, we are somehow more able to handle the harder times.

When Covid started, I made it my mission to help give a huge percentage of the proceeds to Feeding America. People magazine wrote an article about it, and it was picked up by the local news. Now my mission continues– to help as many people as I can through the magical healing quality of deeply personalized art.

Contact me for a free consultation and let me share my mission with you.

I would love to hear what makes you happy!?

Each piece is hand signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Perch, The Edison, Sunset Plaza, my place, Republique and of course Bavel and Bestia.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to send a shout out to my Dad who always encouraged my art and art career. His only stipulation was that I not go to Art College as an undergrad. He always said that he wanted me to be well rounded and educated and he “didn’t want me to only be able to talk about Andy Warhol at a dinner party”. I assumed that I would go back to Art Grad School until I was too transfixed with fashion and costuming and temporarily thought that that was my path.
