We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrick White & Marvin Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Derrick White & Marvin Thompson, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Derrick: The most important lesson I’ve learned is to never give up, no matter what it look like whether good or bad keep going or you will resent yourself later. Your ideas is just that, YOUR IDEAS, not anyone else’s.

Marvin: The most important lesson I’ve learned is to have faith and believe in yourself, avoid procrastination at all cost! I’ve had plenty of ideas for years that are just now going into production. There has been plenty of times when I made a personal item for myself and others wanted it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We both started together at the Department of Homeland Security and worked our way through the ranks, it was not easy and a lot of sacrifices were made to get where we both are individually. we bonded first over the love of sneakers and that transitioned to establishing the clothing line and podcast. We saw that our normal lives consisted of fashion and real lives conversations making it that much easier to start our own businesses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First thing we’ll do is hit up Delilah’s to get something to eat on a Friday night, and on Saturday we’ll hit Santa Monica pier and bar hop and on Sunday if weren’t not watching football at Panama Joe’s we’re brunching at Red O.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Marvin: I would like to thank my mother for being my inspiration , a lot of people don’t know but her name is the reason behind the “Y” with her name being Yolanda so the Y is near and dear to my heart something that we both share Yolanda & Yafeelsme. I also would like to thank Ms. Tiffany Martin for printing my very first shirts. I also wanted to thank my best friend Nicole Cross for pushing me to start my own clothing line as well as building the website and logistics. I wanted to thank Bree for helping me rebrand. I want to my thank Synphanie Holt for helping me bring my ideas to life. I want to thank Anthony Bates for always being honest about ideas, approving and disapproving and always answering my calls no matter what. I want to thank my brother Lamar for being my #1 supporter and model. Last but not least I want to thank Derrick White for guidance and helping me establish my brand on the legal side.

Derrick: I would like to thank my beautiful wife for being my support system, I want to thank my mother for teaching me to grind and go after my goals. I want to thank my cousins Devonte & Diamond for teaching me how to start a podcast. I want to thank our videographer Julz for showing me the importance of video. I want to thank Nicole & Lauren for being apart of my vision. Finally I would like to thank my dawg Marvin Thompson for believing in me and being the heart of the podcast.
