Meet Dipesh Yadav | Music artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dipesh Yadav and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dipesh, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My creative career began with a joke from my mom. As a kid, I was obsessed with video games, and she teased me to create my own. That playful taunt challenged my ego and led me to learn coding. While working on a game, I discovered that I was more fascinated by sound design than by the game itself. This pivot wasn’t planned; it was an organic shift to a new, all-consuming passion.
I was drawn to music because it offered a unique sense of satisfaction and meaning that coding didn’t. As someone from a non-musical, middle-class family, this path also forced me to be self-sufficient and resourceful. I had to turn financial and resource limitations into motivation, teaching myself everything from scratch. This journey wasn’t just about pursuing a hobby; it was about forging a distinct identity and a sustainable career from my passion. At last, I want to say that I am always a creative kid because I love to do creative and innovative works as I love photography, graphic designing, and writing because these kinds of works gives me freedom and I can do something innovative and unique.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my art apart is the fusion of scientific precision and creative passion, which is embodied by my stage name, ‘Mutant.’ As someone who came from a non-musical family but had a deep love for both science and music, I’ve learned to approach my craft with a logical and systematic mindset while simultaneously pushing creative boundaries. This approach allows me to constantly experiment, blending genres and breaking conventional music rules to create something truly unique. I’m currently most excited about a project that blends Indian cultural elements with modern sounds, a work that honors my heritage while forging a new, innovative path.
Getting here wasn’t easy. Coming from a middle-class, non-musical family, I faced significant challenges like a lack of resources and formal training. I started on a very old computer and had to teach myself everything through trial and error, relying on blog posts and manuals. My early days as a ghost producer were also a test; I had to handle rejection and see my work become a hit for others without getting any credit.
I overcame these obstacles by adopting a “mutant” mindset: turning negativity into motivation. A joke from my mom and the mockery of my classmates fueled my determination. The most important lesson I learned is that genuine success is a slow burn. It’s not about what you have, but what you can do with it. This philosophy of resourcefulness and patience has been key to my journey. I want the world to know that my brand is built on perseverance and authenticity. My story proves that you don’t need a record label or expensive gear to succeed; you just need to believe in your own unique journey and be willing to put in the work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, our week wouldn’t be about sightseeing. We’d mostly hang out at my place because I’m a homebody, and for me, the most fun times happen right here.
Our itinerary would focus on my favorite things: making music, playing video games, reading, and cooking. We’d spend our days in my studio, creating new tracks and playing games for hours. I’d cook my favorite meals for us, and we’d spend our evenings listening to new music and just talking.
For a change of pace, I’d take him to a nearby park to relax and get some fresh air. We’d also go to a local Indian restaurant to enjoy some great food, though I’d be just as happy to cook for him back at my place. For me, the best week is all about the quality time we spend together, not where we are.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to two powerful influences in my life: my mom and my schoolmates. It may sound unconventional, but their impact was monumental. My mom’s taunt—her playful challenge to stop playing games and create my own—was the spark that set my entire journey in motion. Without her, I wouldn’t have discovered my passion for music.
I also want to recognize my schoolmates who used to make fun of my music. Their words, which suggested I was wasting my time, became a powerful motivator. I used their doubt as fuel, pushing myself to prove that my passion was worthwhile. This experience taught me to turn negativity into a powerful, creative energy, and it solidified my determination to succeed.
Lastly, a big thank you goes out to my friends in the music industry. Their honest feedback on my early tracks was invaluable. When I had no formal training, their critiques were essential to my growth and improvement. This blend of challenges and support has been the foundation of my success.
