We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Novasoul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a DJ, my business creates social impact by applying music as a tool to bring people together, celebrate diversity, and create inclusive environments where everyone feels welcome. I strive to make the dance floor a safe space where people can express themselves freely without judgment.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is my ability to mix many different genres and read the room so every set feels unique. I love telling stories through music and truly connecting with the crowd.

I’m most proud of the moments I’ve created where people lose themselves on the dance floor and feel something bigger than the music. Getting here definitely wasn’t easy. Being a female DJ in a male-dominated industry came with its own challenges from needing to constantly prove myself to breaking stereotypes. I pushed through by staying persistent, putting in the 10,000+ hours, and trusting my style.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that authenticity matters more than trends. My goal is to create experiences that stick with people and make them feel alive.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to all the DJs and mentors who inspired me along the way and encouraged me to keep going. I also want to show love to every woman breaking barriers in the music industry. Your courage made my journey feel possible.
