We had the good fortune of connecting with Don Cody and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Don, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I just want to be remembered as the guy that successfully did whatever he set his mind too. I want to show people that sometimes those born with a plastic spoon instead of silver can still end up on top.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up singing around the house, guitar in hands, cowboy hat and boots, diaper, and George Strait playing on the TV every day. So I believe my dreams as an musician/entertainer came at a very young age. I’ve always been driven to entertain, it’s always been my plan A, B, and C. So for the past 26 years has been exactly that, to perfect my craft the best I can. It’s been far from easy, in fact, it’s not easy now. But having the chance to work with artists like Blackbear, Modsun, Kyle and Ryan Caraveo and to see where they’re at in their careers today really keeps me motivated to keep pushing. I truly believe my team and myself have yet to reach our strongest potential.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The older I get, the less about the night life/partying I become. So honestly, we’re probably going to hidden food gems, hiking spots, vibe in the studio. I’m not big about lingering around my own city, so if anything, I’d want to take them to adventure to a place neither one of us have been before.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout out goes to my family, friends, fans, the entire tribe. The journey has been far from easy, but I promise we will end up on top before its all over.
