We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Bond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I took an enormous risk when I resigned from my 28-year long highly-tenured career back in 2014. I walked away away from a top-level, quarter of a million dollar a year position, with a highly prestigious hospitality company. This risk was not only totally illogical, it was the pivot my soul knew I needed to make. It was the second biggest risk I ever took. (The first was saying I would marry a guy I met three weeks earlier on match.) The craziest part of the risk I took, was that I didn’t have a clear path to what I do today. What I do know for sure, is that getting out of my comfort zone – taking a risk- was the secret sauce in really activating my life and my purpose. I believe our soul, the higher part of us, calls us forward to step into unknown places, because it wants to expand through us. Our Soul wants us to grow, learn and evolve. The soul knows this is progress. It is our ego that see’s it as “risk” and it feels scary because we don’t have everything planned out. This was the single biggest financial and status risk I’ve ever taken and it has been the pivot to a much happier and more fulfilled life. AND, the financial stability is still very much in place!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a personal transformation consultant and I assist people to live into their full potential from the inside out. I support individuals and groups to identify what and how they would love to live their life and what stands in the way of them doing that. I assist people in clearing their own inner blocks and self-imposed limitations and to find the inner authority and authentic empowerment to move forward in their life. I am able to light the paths for others, because I have personally made the journey myself. I want the world to know that each of us is WAY more powerful than what we’ve been pretending. That each one of us is a unique, individualized, expression of creation and we are here to EXPRESS. When we deny ourselves of that, part of us begins to die. I help people figure out who they came to this life to be and I help them align their thoughts, feelings, actions and behaviors with their hearts desires. I help them find their voice, to speak their truth, to discover their gifts and cultivate the courage to share them with the world. I want people to reclaim their inner power and to stand solid in who they are and what they believe. I got here because I had to break free from my old world. It’s scary to leave the tribe. To walk away from everything you’ve been taught. To step out onto the ledge threatening financial stability and social status for a dream. Especially if you’re unsure what that dream even is. This is very scary and very risky. AND, it’s required to listen to the call of your Spirit and experience the richness of feeling alive. This is why you came to this life. Facilitating individuals and groups through the process of personal transformation is how I came here to serve.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love old Hollywood. I’d have a driver take us through the old Hollywood hills and site the mansions. Then we’d grab lunch at the Hollywood Roosevelt and maybe walk around town taking in the sites. In the evening we would check out the theatres and see if anything fabulous is playing…or, if we are still in Covid, maybe we just get a room at the Roosevelt and curl up with room service.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my story and my current success to professors and founding faculty Dr’s Ron and Mary Hulnick at the University of Santa Monica. It was their master’s program in Spiritual Psychology with an emphasis in Consciousness, Health and Healing that set the foundation for the work I do today. I am deeply grateful for their programs in Soul Centered Living and the experiential education provided while earning my master of arts.
