Meet Dusty Nabor: Winemaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dusty Nabor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dusty, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was an avid drinker of wine for many years before I learned how to make it. At first I just wanted to understand the process. Once I started to learn and do it for myself, I was hooked. I always intended to sell the wine that I made. I just had no idea it would be as successful as it is today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Making wine is definitely more of a craft than pure art. There are artistic elements in the process as well as scientific and practical ones as well. I think I embody a good combination of both. I have a solid understanding of both what I want to achieve and how best to do that by being true to myself, the land and the fruit we harvest. Creating a wine that represents the terroir of the vineyard, winery and people who make it takes an artistic interpretation that can be difficult at times. Having a creative and confident personality helps to bring out the best in a wine.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them on a trip up the coast starting in Ventura and traveling through wine country on our way as far north as Monterey Bay. That is some of the most scenic and beautiful landscape in the word.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Karin Langer – for always supporting me in my dreams
