We had the good fortune of connecting with Eduardo Manilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eduardo, what matters most to you?
Living a life in Gratitude has brought me much Joy and Happiness. To start my day right I just do a simple exercise of thinking about everything I’m grateful for. It sounds silly but it works wonders. Give it a try!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Architecture is what I do for living and Music is what I do for fun. Both of these art forms have a lot of similarities, such as beauty, rhythm, composition and creativity. Our built environment is best when we design it with an artistic approach. This is something I’ve learned out on the field and it has become my personal vision towards the design process. Different disciplines can complement each other if we figure out the links between them. In my case I’m able to find creative design solutions through my love of music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has to be one of the coolest cities to visit in the world! Here’s my itinerary for a week in and around town:

Day 2 Santa Monica Art Galleries at Bergamot Station & Volleyball games on the beach Coffee: Urth Cafe Food: Bay Cities to-go sandwiches. Drinks: The Bungalow
Day 3 Downtown LA Dodgers Game at Dodger Stadium or Lakers game at Staples Center Coffee: Zinc Food: Monty’s GoodBurger Drinks: Pattern Bar
Day 4 Big Bear Escape to the mountains and hit the slopes. This one is a favorite of mine.
Day 5 High Desert Rock climbing and star watching in Joshua Tree Coffee: Frontier Cafe Food & Drinks: Pappy & Harriet’s

Day 7 Bombay Beach Wrap up the week with a trip to paradise. Pack a lunch!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Would love to give a shout out to all the teachers I had while attending Architecture school at the University of Baja California in Mexicali, Mexico. I’m very grateful for all the life-shaping lessons I received through the years. Thank you!
