We had the good fortune of connecting with Ehrich Van Lowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ehrich, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?

My thought process behind starting Resurrection Media was simple. I wanted to create something that was fun, that I could use to help others on their journeys to success, and that we could make a nice living together. My company is immersed in all things horror: games, quizzes, live and virtual events, podcasts, short films, and of course, feature films.

Social Impact: How does your business help the community or the world?

Resurrection Media is really about opportunity. I am “resurrecting” my own career in a new and different way, and I want to do the same for others. We go outside of the Hollywood community for our stories. The idea is to tap into the wealth of creative people outside of Hollywood who want to see their ideas come to life. For instance, our first feature film, Shambles, was written by a school worker from Anadarko Oklahoma. Anna Kittrell would never have gotten the chance to see her work on the screen if not for little companies like mine.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tell us more about your professional life and career?

I’ve had a wonderful career as a writer. I worked on TV sitcoms mostly from the mid 80s thru the early 2000s. I wrote for Knight Rider, Charles In Charge, The Robert Guillaume Show. I wrote a dramatic short film, Cadillac Dreams, that was fortunate enough to be nominated for an Academy Award. That led to work on The Cosby Show. From there I started producing TV shows, Where I live, Roc, Homeboys In Outer Space, and Even Stevens. My final TV show was The Tom Joyner Show for the eponymous popular radio personality in 2005.

The whole time I was working in TV comedy, I had a compelling desire to write paranormal or horror. I really wanted to write for The X Files. I transitioned to writing books in 2006. I finally got my chance at paranormal writing in the teen paranormal romance genre. Never Slow Dance With A Zombie was my first novel, followed by Boyfriend From Hell and Earth Angel. I wrote eight teen novels. But I still had the taste for horror. I wrote several horror novels and novellas including Baad Dog and The Secrets of Love and Death—a few I self-published.

And then, at a time when most of my peers were thinking about retiring, I raised some money and started RM (Resurrection Media). It’s the icing on the cake of my career—my first full foray into horror.

We launched October, 2023, and hit the ground running. Our first podcast, Resurrection Media’s Possession (true crime meets true horror) premiered in December and was in the top 25% of all podcasts downloaded throughout its seven-episode run. In June it won IMBD’s Indie Cine Tube Award for most popular true crime podcast. Our first feature film, Shambles, is currently being prepped to shoot early next year. I’m really proud of the work my small team has done to make our dream a reality.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Favorite Spots in the City

I love dining out. I love finding new, interesting restaurants. If my visitor likes seafood, I would take them to Catch LA in West Hollywood. Great food with Hollywood ambience. I love Mexican food. If my guest was the mood we’d stop by my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Cholo in Santa Monica. If my guest craved a little southern hospitality, Harold & Belle’s on W. Jefferson would fill the bill featuring great food with a creole feel along with some down home ambience. Sushi. My latest fave is Sugarfish in Beverly Hills. These are all places that will give my out-of-town guest a good sense of the dining diversity this great culinary city has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. you want to dedicate your Shoutout to?

Yes. My family. In particular, my Mom. I was a big dreamer when I was a kid. I loved telling stories from the age of ten. My Mom would encourage me to write them down, always telling me I could make money from them. For a kid from the South Bronx (at the time the most blighted ghetto in America) being a professional story-teller might seem impossible, but my Mom always made that dream seem real.
