We had the good fortune of connecting with Ellie Shoja and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ellie, what do you attribute your success to?
The single most important factor behind my success as a business owner, a human being, and a deliberate creator of my reality is my commitment to my mindset. Mindset essentially means having the mental discipline to prioritize thought patters, behavioral patterns, and belief patterns that are in alignment with what we really want out of life. It means creating the mental agility to pivot as needed in order to choose thoughts that make us feel better, regardless of the circumstances that surround us. If you can prioritize your mindset and choose empowering thoughts even when you are in the middle of a rut, you will create a direct path to success — no matter what your reality consists of in this moment.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Peace Unleashed is home to the #1 book club for conscious readers. We provide community and dialogue around some of today’s most transformative books. Book club members also gain access to exclusive interviews with authors and thought leaders, relevant workshops, and additional resources such as live and recorded meditations, workbooks, journals, and e-books. Currently, the Peace Unleashed book club is reading Jill Bolte Taylor’s “My Stroke of Insight.” In March, we will host an exclusive interview with Dr. Taylor, where book club members will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Taylor over Zoom and ask questions. As a serial entrepreneur who started her first business at the age of 19, I have done business both ways: stressed and drowning, and at peace and thriving. I can tell you that the second way is much more enjoyable. It took me over 15 years to figure out how to live in this peaceful way that allows me to create everything I dream of with ease. I firmly believe that inner peace is a birthright and that every person can access peace within him or herself, regardless of circumstances. Inner peace is also the birthplace of creativity and our individual power. If you can find that peace within yourself, you’ll gain access to everything you need to be successful in every aspect of your life. And the best part is, there are tangible, practical tools that can help you get there. Peace Unleashed was born out of the desire to share these tools with our community, so more people can unleash the power of their inner peace. Peace is power, because peace gives us access to everything that makes us who we really are. We cannot show up fully as ourselves if we don’t have inner peace. And when we do settle into that deep sense of belonging, clarity, and worthiness that are characteristics of having inner peace, we show up in such a powerful way that our very presence improves the quality of our conversations, elevates our relationships, and inspires those around us to also feel more connected and more peaceful. Inner peace ultimately trickles out into the world. At Peace Unleashed, we like to say, “The path to world peace is through individual hearts.” Peace Unleashed was in many ways one of the easiest businesses I have built. Such is the power of connection and flow. Peace Unleashed came about quite accidentally. It was born out of a desire to serve, and very quickly it found its audience. The fluidity with which this business expanded taught me one very important lesson: When we operate from alignment, we begin to create a life that feels good and is fulfilling. When I was providing service as a life coach, one of my favorite things to tell my clients was to, “Try less hard.” We hold on too tightly when we try too hard. In rock climbing, when you hold on too tightly, you risk your muscles cramping up and losing your grip. But when you loosen your grip and allow your muscles to remain active but relaxed, that’s when you can access the true strength of your body and you can start to really have fun. The same is true in every aspect of life from relationships to parenting to business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has so many marvels. Every part of town has its own personality, every corner of it is filled with fun gems to explore. Some of my favorite LA spots are the outdoor parks and historic villas. The Getty Villa is a must see, the gardens at the Getty Museum, and of course the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens and the Arboretum. If you’re new to LA, studio tours can be fun. Warner Bros. and Universal Studios are two of my favorites. Somehow, I’m always finding myself at Italian restaurants in LA. Sor Tino in Brentwood is a favorite, and so is Pizzana just a block away. A trip to Sawtelle for Japanese food is also a must. Tsujita and Furaibo always seem to be good choices. Los Angeles also has some wonderful hikes. I’m partial toward ocean view hikes like Temescal Canyon, Will Rogers, and Los Liones, but will happily join in on the more urban hikes like Runyon Canyon. One of my favorite things to do in LA is to walk along its beaches. Malibu beaches are great for learning how to surf, and Santa Monica provides plenty of sand to go for long walks. As an introvert, I also love going for long windy drives through the mountains, or watching the sunset from the Malibu Bluffs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to our Peach Unleashed book club members, who keep doing the internal work and showing up from a place of unconditional love and connection. Every day, you inspire us to keep pushing the limits of what a great book club can be.
