We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Naifeh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I believe success is loving oneself and believing in oneself. But, first understanding what love and believing in oneself means is essential. As I believe these two things, can be easily misunderstood. Lets say an ocean represents the self. When you love yourself you will dive to the bottom of the ocean, through its many layers, if that’s what it takes with a gentle ease not harming any in the way. But in the same breath, when you love yourself you will know when it’s better to float with a gentle ease until the time is right for you to dive further in. And to believe in yourself means you will not walk away from that ocean. You might close your eyes to rest and that’s ok. But you will always be there, with the ocean, still moving forward. And Loving oneself and believe in oneself both bind to Trust. Trust is the water in the ocean keeping you afloat or moving you along. All 3 connecting you to your truest self. That is success. From that, something will be different. The “external” success will be pure, honest, and aligned with the ocean. It’s forever yours because it was always there. Inside the ocean, inside of you. But also remember the ocean touches other oceans. All at sea level, all moving together. All make up a world together.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Was it easy? It was worth it. Haha! Still worth it, I’m still moving forward. I have always been a visual person, imagining worlds and stories with a surrealistic nature to them. It’s not until now that I feel like I’m expressing the art that feels aligned with my true self. It took going inside, reading the layers, rewriting my life’s script. Getting closer to my truest self. I feel like my art is just now beginning!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For Eats: Otium, Breadlam, Little Pine, Bestia For Drinks: The Edison, The Varnish, Seven Grand If they wanted to see the tourist attractions in the city, I would gladly take them. California is so beautiful: ocean, desert, mountains. I would take them up the PCH up to Big Sur. I’d take them to Joshua Tree. I’d take them to Big Bear or somewhere in Angeles National Forest. If we stayed in the city, I would be taking them to immersive style entertainment. I have friends that do immersive theatre and I believe it’s such a eye opening experience! I’d take to art shows, any sort of experimental, immersive style experience- That is where we’d go!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my Shoutout to: Donessa Alexander, she is a hypnotherapist and much, much more. She is an extraordinary teacher who has been a monumental guide in my life.
