We had the good fortune of connecting with Falynn Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Falynn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
So I started at a flower shop in my home town of hacienda heights in my teens. I didn’t know that this opportunity would be laying the foundation for what I do today (floral designer). I went on to work for Starbucks for about 10 years, all the while creating floral designs for my now business partner aka my MOM who is a event planner. She suggested I start my floral business based on the positive feedback we got from us working together. The truth was I was ready to create my own legacy and my thoughts to do something that was truly fulfilling So I did!!! I worked both jobs (flowers & coffee) for awhile until deciding about 5 years ago to leave the coffee industry & use my talents elsewhere……thus solely pursing Flawless Flowers By Falynn which eventually morphed into the mother daughter duo of Flawless Weddings & Events.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So being a floral designer is a truly unique craft. It is absolutely one of the best crafts ever! Now with that being said there is a lot of practice involved. If I look back on my designs from 10 years ago I can honestly say what a hot mess they were. The evolution is real & the need to perfect your designs is so important and necessary for your brand. Creating a signature look that is easily recognizable as your brand can be challenging because you also want to be known as an innovative & flexible designer…….not know as she only creates that one BOHO look etc. Getting to where I am today was not easy. I think the biggest lesson I had to learn along the way was knowing your self worth. When growing a business there is so much to learn from how to make a profit & not give the whole house away (as my husband says) but how to value your self through it all. That can be what you charge for your blood, sweat & tears, in other words your back breaking labor & time away from your family. What I am most proud of is the reputation & connections we have built along the way. It has been a long journey but a fascinating one. We have put people first! I think most are impressed that a mother & daughter can work together and honestly I couldn’t see it any other way. This year we were nominated by peers/vendors for California Wedding Day Best of 2020 Orange County wedding planner & florist and that nomination speaks volume in our industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely would have to start that trip in PALM SPRINGS!!!!!! I am such a huge fan of the desert heat and laying by the pool. I would have to say back when this hotel was around, VICEROY I loved their swanky yellow, white & black decor. It was very old Hollywood feel and all of palm springs screams old Hollywood royalty. Followed by a trip to the OC! Laguna beach is a huge part of my childhood up bringing. Any chance we got we were there on the beach, walking through the galleries, shops & of course fine dining. Guess we should take a drive down PCH and hit every beach along the way. I mean what is not to love about beach after beach after beach? All with their own signature appeal & cali vibe. Catalina Express here were come! You can’t visit Cali without going to this beautiful island. Then lets become a real tourist……..Santa Monica Pier, promenade & Venice beach, all those street vendors are ultimate. entertainment. BEVERLY HILLS, that’s where I want to be. haha! Definitely have to tour lavish mansion, Graystone Manor & Rodeo drive. Next stop HOLLYWOOD seeing all the iconic spots. Griffith Observatory, LA Zoo & last the Getty Museum. By the way even though my husband was born and raised here he had never experienced these places until he met me. I am sure there are places I surely left out BUT that would have to be the next trip. These are all the spots that are nostalgic to me.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is an easy one…….my MOM!!!!! I truly have learned how to be a honorable woman, wife, mother, friend & entrepreneur. I am extremely grateful for her and her wisdom and guidance in my life. She has never steered me wrong. The saying mother knows best has been profoundly true.
Other: I share the same business info as my partner Tracy Bowles. So please use the above info for the both of us.
