We had the good fortune of connecting with Festive and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Festive, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is a combination of perseverance and resilience. Being able to fail and learn from my mistakes have allowed me to realize habits and characteristics of negativity. For the longest, it was my own mindset that blocked me from being my best self. When you are your own biggest enemy, you leave no room for outside affirmation. You fester in your thoughts of doubt SO much, you have zero time (or energy) to celebrate your accomplishments. Learning that being wrong isn’t always a bad thing allowed me to live life in a more honest and transparent perspective. Being able to be honest with myself helped me create the success I have now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since the release of “Done Waiting: The Deluxe” I have started to work on a series of EP’s. After winning an online rap contest, I’ve won a distribution with EQ Distro who is in partnership with Roc Nation. While I put the finishing touches on this first EP installment, I continue to perform on stages across California. Keep an eye out for what’s next!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born & raised in San Diego, So I would start our morning off with some brunch at Agave Cafe. Bottomless mimosas followed by a trip to Mission Beach to walk the pier and view the Sherbet color skies. After that, we’d head to Mount Soledad to view all of Daygo from the top of the mountain. It’s a must to end your weekend nights with a frozen yogurt or chamango at your local fruteria. Gotta show love to our local shops.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out all of the women who are chasing something they thought they could never get. I’m here to represent the women who were told they had to pertain to a certain type of female. The ones who broke the mold of being the “weirdo” and prospered. The ones who walk into the room and declare what is theirs off of energy alone.
