We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabrielle, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ever since I was a young child I wanted to be an artist, and knew it was my way to happiness. I never second guessed another path for whatever reason, but I did experiment with so many mediums to really find what spoke to me. I always found the pursuit of art and beauty a noble pursuit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I fell into my career during college, where I was struggling to find a path that really suited me in the educational system. Once I found makeup and the art within that, I just KNEW. A big epiphany of, hey you actually know what you want to do, and that’s lucky so you should really go for it. I love challenges in that way, as it makes you see so clearly, but change your mind 1000 times in the process, making you see things in new lights. It’s not what I would call easy by any means, but trusting yourself is so important in all aspects of future decisions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ll take everyone I ever meet to Mh Zh in Silver Lake to eat the most amazing Mediterranean food, or show them my neighborhood in Culver City with all the amazing food there. Maybe swing over to the beach because I will take any opportunity to go to the ocean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my mother, my best friend for the longest period of my life, she has always inspired me to truly know myself.
