We had the good fortune of connecting with Gara Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gara, what role has risk played in your life or career?

I think of risks on a “nothing ventured nothing gained” level, in a sense of something’s gotta give but you gotta give something! When taking a risk it’s important to believe not only in your vision but your ability to make that vision come to life, whatever that looks like for you. It’s gotta be bigger than you! In my personal life risks have played a big role in how I operate which is exactly why I chose to take a risk and create my brand. I saw a need for something and took that leap of faith and it got me far in such a short time, this Interview alone speaks volumes and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon! Also, when you take a risk having faith will take you further than anything, it’s essential!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

In a world where it’s shunned upon to have feelings I felt like the homies needed some extra love. We see it everyday, friends and family struggle with things on a daily basis that they don’t wanna talk about. You can feel when somebody is just going through it but will they speak on it? Nope! I felt like hugging the homies was a creative way to let everyone know “I see you and it will be okay.” When the pandemic took over our lives it was hard to see one another, some of us lost friends and family due to Covid. I was living in another state and the homies were just passing away before I could move back and that was a hard pill to swallow.

Depression and anxiety is real, MENTAL health is real and it’s something we need to take a deeper look at in SOCIETY. Oftentimes we hold things in for so long until we just become numb all the while simultaneously still trying to navigate through life, it gets rough and sometimes you can feel alone. I personally dealt with a lot of things on my own but what I learned during that time is that I AM worthy of the career I want, the friendships and connections I deserve and that in itself has pushed me to keep going! I hope to inspire many to always follow your heart, make genuine moves throughout life and know that anything is possible if you want it badly enough!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my best friends was visiting, no doubt we’d go to the art museums and galleries. The beach is a huge attraction too, especially because this particular friend lives in a place where they don’t really have nice beaches. I feel like the most interesting places are downtown LA. I’m a big art lover so I enjoy the arts district, China town etc. As far as food places go I would definitely have to do my due diligence and find some dope vegan spots for my friend! My favorite place hands down would be Venice beach. I don’t care what anyone says, the art and the vibe is unmatched.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I just want to shoutout GOD because anything is possible when you put him first!
