We had the good fortune of connecting with Ginger Rose Brucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ginger Rose, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
For me, success has been built on a combination of passion, discipline, and a deep sense of curiosity.
Some key components below have helped me achieve being a small business owner in Los Angeles.
#1: Vision & Purpose: It all starts with having a clear vision. Knowing why I do what I do and who I serve keeps me focused and motivated. For me, that means working with my amazing clients to curate the perfect musical experience for their event whether it’s a wedding, a private gathering, or a unique collaboration in the recording studio.
#2: Consistency
Consistency is key. Staying on top of things in my business means not only practicing regularly but also maintaining strong communication with my clients. Responding promptly, being professional, and nurturing relationships all contribute to long-term success.
#3: Adaptability and Flexibility
Every event is different, and things don’t always go as planned. Being flexible, adjusting to last-minute changes, and finding creative solutions, whether it’s dealing with an unexpected venue challenge or modifying a setlist on the fly ensures that I always deliver a great experience.
#4: Building Relationships
The music industry is built on connections. Whether it’s event planners, fellow musicians, or clients, forming genuine relationships opens doors to more opportunities. Word-of-mouth recommendations and strong collaborations are invaluable.
#5: Customer Focus
At the end of the day, my goal is to provide value to my clients. Understanding their vision, personalizing each performance, and exceeding expectations!
#6: Financial choices
A successful music business isn’t just about the work, it’s also about smart financial decisions. Managing finances, investing in quality equipment, and setting fair pricing for my services allow me to grow sustainably. That and also knowing my worth at the end of the day and when to say no.
#7: Taking Action & Learning from Experience
A huge part of my success comes from doing, not just planning. I take every opportunity as a learning experience whether it’s stepping into new performance settings, taking risks in my business, or learning from past events to improve the next one.
#8: Passion & being resilient.
Music is my passion, but resilience is what keeps me moving forward. Not every gig goes perfectly, and the journey of an artist has ups and downs. Staying motivated, pushing through challenges, and continuously evolving as a musician and business owner are what define long-term success.

This mindset has helped me build my career as a harpist, and it’s what keeps me inspired to keep growing!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Owning and operating my own small music business has been an incredible journey, one built on years and years of dedication. Through my business, I offer harp performances through event bookings, weddings, concerts, private gatherings, private lessons, and in studio recording sessions.

Being a one-woman show means I do it all. Beyond performing and teaching, I handle every aspect of the business booking gigs, managing client relationships, maintaining my harp, marketing, accounting, and even loading and transporting a 80-pound instrument to venues! Each performance isn’t just about playing music; it’s about coordinating logistics, preparing setlists, communicating with clients, and ensuring that every detail aligns perfectly with my clients vision.

It hasn’t always been easy. There have been long nights studying and practicing, learning the ins and outs of business management, and figuring out how to balance creativity with the demands of entrepreneurship. But through it all, I’ve learned in trusting my vision.

One of the biggest rewards is seeing the impact my music has on others whether it’s a bride moved to tears as she walks down the aisle to her dream song, a student having a breakthrough moment in their playing, or an audience fully immersed in hearing the harp for the very first time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting LA, I’d want to give them a mix of iconic sights and hidden gems showing them just how amazing this city is!

One of the first places we’d visit is Griffith Observatory, it’s one of my favorite spots in LA. Whether it’s gazing at the city skyline, going for a hike, exploring the exhibits, or catching a planetarium show, this is truly one of the best spots to explore.

For a more relaxed day, we’d take a walk along the LA River, and stop for coffee at a cozy neighborhood spot. Maybe also check out the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena!

This city has so much to offer so I would also probably take them downtown and check out a few of my favorite rooftop bars.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to say all of my previous mentors and teachers throughout my studies and career as a harpist have been my greatest inspirations. Each one has shaped my understanding of music, performance, and artistry in unique ways. Their guidance and support helped me grow both technically and emotionally as a musician.
