We had the good fortune of connecting with Havilah Malone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Havilah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
In order to inspire over two billion people to embrace radical self-love and step into their power… you must take risks. Risk, to me, is a spiritual assignment. Every major achievement in my life has come from saying yes to something that terrified me. Moving to Los Angeles with no promises, shaving my head right before a major audition, and leaving a safe corporate path behind. None of those choices were comfortable, but they were aligned. My success began when I stopped molding myself into what I thought others wanted to see. Whether I am mentoring young artists, advocating for representation, or creating art that centers truth and emotional freedom, my work is designed to spark healing and possibility on a global scale. I share my own story and the trauma, recovery, and triumph that come with it, so others feel less alone and more capable of transforming their lives. People resonate with truth, vulnerability, courage, and realness.
When you bet on yourself, the universe meets you with opportunities you could not have planned. Every bold step has opened a new chapter in my career and brought me closer to my purpose. When I stopped performing for approval and started showing up as my full and unfiltered self, everything shifted. That honesty has allowed me to build genuine connections with audiences, collaborators, and communities around the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multi-hyphenate creator and transformational speaker on a mission to positively impact over two billion lives. As a four-time best-selling author, award-winning actress, executive producer, and spoken word artist, my work empowers audiences to unlock their intuitive genius, embrace radical self-love, and confidently communicate their value.
Known for my roles in HBO’s Barry and Insecure, NCIS: New Orleans, and four national Super Bowl campaigns, I blend storytelling, spirituality, and emotional truth to create art that heals and elevates culture. My spoken word album, Proof of What’s Possible, reflects my commitment to courage, authenticity, and being living proof of the limitless potential within us all.
Whether I am acting on screen, writing, performing spoken word, or producing films, my intention is the same. I want to create work that awakens people to their inner power.
What sets me apart is that everything I create comes from lived experience, not theory. I create from transformation. That is why my spoken word album Proof of What’s Possible resonates so deeply and why the short film it inspired, “I’m In Love”, has earned international recognition.
The road to where I am today has not been easy. I have faced rejection, typecasting, financial uncertainty, and the emotional labor of healing while building a public career. Every challenge strengthened my resilience and sharpened my purpose. My biggest lessons are these: authenticity is your superpower, alignment opens doors that hard work alone cannot, and your story is medicine for someone else.
My work is not designed to simply entertain. It is designed to transform. My brand is rooted in one truth: you can be proof of what’s possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a best friend were visiting Los Angeles, I would want them to experience the creativity and calm that make the city so special. We would start with a sunrise lookout at Griffith Observatory, then refuel with smoothies from Body Energy Club on Hollywood Blvd. We’d step across the street and experience the childlike joy of walking through Funko Hollywood, and have personal Funko dolls crafted for each of us. We’d grab lunch at Hollywood Thai Restaurant, enjoying the flaming delight of their seafood soup bathed in a rich coconut broth.
I would take them downtown to explore art galleries and ignite that unmistakable creative energy that can be found at the Broad Museum. Followed by a wellness day at the Wi Spa, and a divine sound bath and meditation led by Amy Argyle.
During this week, we would catch a film screening and Q& A at the Directors Guild, and dedicate a day to Malibu for ocean views and dinner while watching the pelicans fly over crashing waves. A visit would not be complete without time in Leimert Park for culture and community connection while picking up a jar of the heavenly scented body butter ‘Scent of a King’ at Nappily Naturals.
We would probably end the trip with a celebratory brunch at Haidilao in West Field Century City or Ocean Sushi on Santa Monica Blvd followed by a sunset horseback ride up to the Hollywood sign to take in the magic of Los Angeles.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many beautiful souls who have poured into me, but I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mentor and friend, Saundra Richardson. She saw greatness in me long before I saw it in myself. When I was at a crossroads, leaving corporate America and unsure of my next steps, she became both a mirror and a lighthouse for me. Her belief in me was so unwavering that she literally invested in my move to Los Angeles. That act of love and generosity changed the entire trajectory of my life, and I am forever grateful.
I also want to honor my community. The people who listen to my album, read my books, watch my films, and show up with open hearts. Their stories, courage, and healing fuel my own. No one rises alone, and I am deeply grateful for every person who has walked with me on this journey. And of course a huge shoutout to my mother, Cynthia Malone, I love her beyond words.
