We had the good fortune of connecting with Huyen “Kiki” Vo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Huyen “Kiki”, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to remember my optimistic attitude and kind spirit. I want people to remember that I have made a difference in their lives and that I have empowered them to create and achieve goals they didn’t think they could accomplish. I want to be remembered as someone who embodies resiliency and inspires others to not just survive but thrive in life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m thrilled to share a bit about my business, Thrive With Kiki, LLC! I offer three services: mental wellness coaching, consulting and speaking. What is unique about my business is that I weave together my personal experience as a complex trauma survivor and my professional experience as a clinical social worker to provide empathetic and trauma-informed services to all my clients. I have been through similar challenges so I know how hard it can be to navigate through self-doubts, tough emotions, and build confidence. Therefore, I’m committed to uplifting, empowering, and inspiring trauma survivors to not just survive, but thrive in life.
I’m proud of myself for getting out of my comfort zone and starting my business. One of the hardest parts of being an entrepreneur that I’m sure many can relate to is dealing with the imposture syndrome. Although it has been tough, I continue to challenge those thoughts and trust my intuition to navigate new experiences and learn along the way. On this note, one of the biggest lessons I have learned is not to be afraid to reach out for support and to invest in myself. In order to grow as an entrepreneur, I need to continue to sharpen my skills and learn from other coaches who have successfully navigated their own journeys. Investing in yourself is critical and I can’t stress this aspect enough.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many amazing spots in the Southern California area! If you are looking for good food, you have to check out Korean town. So many good Korean bbq restaurants and boba spots! If you want an affordable all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ spot, try Bulgogi Hut. If you like brunch, I would recommend trying out brunch spots on Melrose. One of my favorite spots on Melrose Ave is Blu Jam Cafe. If you want to venture out a bit, I would highly recommend checking out the Santa Monica boardwalk, going to the Santa Anita Mall, or Arcadia Arboretum. Last but not least, you must check out Downtown Disneyland or Universal Studios if you’re in the area, especially if you are traveling with families!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors for many years has provided resources and support to burn survivors like me for free. I firmly believe that I thrive today because of my community’s consistent love and support.
