We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabel Madison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabel, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The habits that helped me succeed were to take everything with a grain of salt. Whether it is a piece of advice, negativity, or hitting a wall. Slowing down for a second and then picking up the pace without getting stuck in stagnation or becoming immobile took training. I used to be full force ahead and now I have learned to take a second when needed and then reengage. But I will never allow negativity to stop or slow me down. My mind is always problem-solving and always forecasting positive outcomes. > Pushing through adversity without overthinking or allowing fear to take over is now a habit I don’t have to think about my next step, I just take it.
Not quitting, when things are out of control is a habit. I had an extremely tough year, last year. Personally and Professionally, I had a death in the family, moved out of my office, and was dealing with the decrease in sales due to Covid. Quitting was out of the question.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The art of color, mixology (formulation) And beautification. I’d like to think would sets me apart is emotion. There’s a lot of emotion in what I do. I consider myself an artist or creator of happiness. I like to create shades that make a woman happy and cheerful, yet confident and powerful. I’m proud of being able to create the go to “nude lipstick” and excited about becoming the Nude brand for everyone. The one stop shop.

Challenges come in many different shapes and forms, continuously. Overcoming them has become part of my ethos. Don’t overthink it just move forward one step, one day at a time, slowly, methodically but surely. I want the whole world to know how easy falling in love with make up can be. Makeup is an essential part of my morning ritual, five minutes a day sets me up for success.

Just like setting a beautiful table for our guests are entertaining our loved ones beautification goes beyond her face it should be in our homes, our offices and all over our lives. Basically our landscape should be beautiful and inspiring to all.

The art of applying make up is meditative, powerful and curing. Use your fingers be quick be fearless, don’t get overwhelmed and have fun, that is my motto.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in L.A. have to do with the quality of light where everyone’s mood improves and everything seems to glow. And as makeup designer, I always love places where the light brings out the best in faces.

These are my top five:

San Vicente Bungalows is my absolute favorite place to chill with a nice relaxing dinner after work. My office happens to be a few blocks away and the convenience makes it too easy. The lighting, the food, and the music are always on par and everyone likes being a guest there. On the weekends I love going to Malibu or my favorite place to chill is the Malibu Beach inn ( carbon beach club restaurant). The food there is mouth watering, not to mention the views and the sounds of the ocean crashing right beneath the deck. You must try the grilled avocado, tuna tartare, brazino and the famous warm cookie with a dollop of ice cream on top ( so worth every calorie). After lunch I love taking a nice stroll on the beach to meditate and enjoy the sun and the sand beneath my feet. The Malibu country Mart is also a beautiful place for me to visit on the weekends. There’s a Greek restaurant, an Italian restaurant and a wonderful juice place which is a must if you love green juice. I have many friends who live in Malibu, so for me finding a friend or a few friends to go on a hike or work out is just simply easy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out all 80 and above women who inspire me every day by taking care of themselves and making all women believe that age is just a number and does not define us.
