We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Glazer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jack, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Currently, I am in the process of changing my career as a Crematory Operator to Software Developer. The pandemic has left a lot of industries in shambles. People are starting to realize that they are being taken advantage of and need to take matters into their own hands with their career goals. I realized that certain things aren’t going to change anytime soon, so I decided to pursue something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now.
Lately, I have also been putting out new songs and videos with my band, PLASTIC RHINO. Work/life balance has been a challenge to say the least. Between working a severely understaffed day job and learning to code, it is very critical what I do with the time I do have for music. Given that live shows in Los Angeles have been at kind of a stand still with pandemic fallout, putting content online is even more important than ever before. Putting out new music is one of the main things holding together my sanity. We do plan on playing live this year very soon.

We just finished filming a music video for our latest single BLEEDING HEART which is slated for an April release!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My band PLASTIC RHINO wrote and recorded nine songs in 2020. We decided to bring back the project after several years of dormancy. I was told once that you are doing the world a disservice by not putting your art out into the world. Given that we all had difficulties with our day jobs during the pandemic, it wasn’t easy finding time to get things done, but we were determined to lay down our best work to date. Nothing was going to stop us.

To this date, we have released three singles and videos. Our songs EUPHORIA NOW, KING and BLEEDING HEART are currently available online. As mentioned before, we just finished filming a video for the song BLEEDING HEART, directed by Nate Lipp. We cannot wait to share it with the world!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Super random, but there’s a sweet ax throwing place near my place in North Hollywood called LA AX. Highly recommend it for a good time. The Hollywood scene is starting to pick back up with live shows without having to constantly be cancelled this time around. Also lots of great sushi joints everywhere.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
None of what I am doing would be possible without the love and support from my wife and musical partner, Atara. These last couple of years have been difficult for everyone and we are no exception. She has been the one who has kept me centered and focused on achieving goals. Without her, I would probably be in a ditch somewhere.
Honorable mentions, Tom Chandler and Ron Geffen, the two best friends and talented producers anyone could ever have.

Shoutout to my coding cohort! Git push, git paid$$$!!!

My crew at the crematory, The Burning Boys! We have been through hell together during the pandemic. Breakfast pizza from Whole Foods will always have a special place in my heart, thanks to them.
