We had the good fortune of connecting with James Bacchi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi james, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business began when I was twelve. Way back then somehow, I knew when it came to business, I wanted to call the shots. So, I started an onsite Car Wash Service and marketed it to the neighbors on my block. I even drew up a contract for weekly or bi-weekly service offering extras like simonizing and interior cleaning.
I went door to door and had ten regular clients in no time. I thought it was important to always give more than what was expected. Many years and many businesses later, doing so has always served me well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Was it easy? Hell, no! Over the years there have been so many great moments and challenges. With every successful business comes obstacles. Several years ago, a colleague and I were discussing survival in the Art Business. I will always be grateful to her for sharing these words. “If it’s not working, change it.” Here’s to a forty-year career that continues to fuel my passion.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
During my forty years of conducting Art Business in New York, San Francisco and now in Palm Springs I’ve come to realize that I’ve been blessed. There are so many people who shared their love, support and encouragement along the way. I am so grateful for all of you, especially for the Artists who continue this inspired career.

As much as I enjoy looking back, I want to share what’s next and dedicate my shoutout to collaborator, Susaye Greene, who I affectionately call “Oh Supreme One”. Susaye is a bestselling author, visual artist, singer, songwriter, producer and the last member of The Supremes. Together, we are creating META CONTEMPORARY – an art exhibition and event space in the Metaverse that incorporates a benefit auction platform to support a variety of arts related nonprofit concerns. Susaye’s excitement for life, her creativity and her passion for learning is contagious. She truly rocket fuels this collaboration. Thank you!
