We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Fish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jane, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
When we resist the flow of life, we know it. The day-to-day activities feel heavier, things don’t go as smoothly, and you end up hitting a lot of roadblocks. In truth, life begins to resist you. This is what it started to feel like for me towards the tail end of my 9-year career working as a Marketing Director at a technology firm.

Let’s rewind a bit. In my heart, I always knew I was a creative human. Yet, being a first-generation immigrant with a strong survival instinct, my career choice was strongly influenced by safety and, honestly, nudges from my mom. Grabbing a dual major in Business and Information Technology, I gained lots of momentum and experience in Corporate America.

Here’s where being open to flow & fluidity comes back into the picture (clearly, the water element is something I resonate with a lot and shows up in my work often). My first job landed me smack dab in the middle of a dark NOC (network operations center for all those who don’t speak ‘geek’). Lucky for me, a mentor was able to recognize my cerebral way of thinking and redirected my energies to internal marketing projects. Eventually, I would end up at a start-up developing and building a marketing department from the ground up. It. Was. Awesome. Until I started to feel like I was swimming upstream.

I go back that far in the story for a reason – if I had ignored that nudge, that current – I wouldn’t have been brave enough to break out on my own and create Mindful Marketing & Web Design – a brand & micro-agency I’ve built to help passionate women business owners create brands that make an impact. Today, I’ve architected my life and career around Creativity. I get to be in my element and feel like I’m moving in tandem with life’s flow.

What should our readers know about your business?
Mindful Marketing & Web Design is all about intention & purpose. Coming out of Corporate America, where I would hire agencies and collaborate with companies like Microsoft & Dell, I learned a lot about finding partners who operated out of integrity vs. partners who were simply shouting internet trends & statistics at me.

I created Mindful Marketing & Web Design because I felt that there was a lot of space for a marketing & branding company that would be able to deliver impactful results and do so mindfully and in alignment with the clients’ purpose.

Getting to this point was both the easiest and hardest thing I had to do in my life. It was the easiest because the decision to step into a fully creative role supporting women who are doing AMAZING things in the world was exactly what I’m meant to do at this moment. It was the hardest because it meant I had to leave the safety & security of my marketing leadership role of 9 years.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nature, amazing coffee, and local eateries are what fills my creative cup! If you came down to spend some quality time with me, our weekend would start at Amsterdam Coffee Bar in New Hope, PA, with one of the best Oat Milk Matcha Lattes in the area. We would swing over to the Delaware Canal Towpath for a bike ride & a beautiful chat alongside the Deleware canal and land at Farm to Toast in Dublin, PA, for a farm-to-table lunch. (Sweet potato avocado toast will hit the spot!) NOW, let’s not forget the most crucial part of life – the dessert! We can’t miss my favorite local & all scratch-made ice cream shop OwowCow Creamery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My creative journey has been fueled by the many badass female entrepreneurs that have architected their lives from a place of purpose and values. Dr. Taryn Marie of Resilience Leadership Institute, Emily Rose of Thrive Embodied Arts, Hayley Stefanelli of Rebyl Branding, Dr. Natalie Christine of Priority Wellness Group and Rebecca Dolber of R.E.D. are just a few of those women who have made a profound impact on my journey.
