We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarnael Dabney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarnael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My 2 kids. My daughter who’s 17 and my son, who’s 5 they are the most important factor behind my success because any time I have even had the slightest thought of stopping I thought of my kids and the life that I envisioned for them and I just go harder at building my brand . I have stayed focused and determined because of them, that is the only motivation I need to get to where I’m headed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m mostly proud that I built my brand the way I wanted, no outside voices I stayed true to myself I didn’t follow trends or copied someone eles. I made what I wanted and stayed true to what I wanted to build for myself. I’m super excited about my first Feature Film that I created and wrote Called “Newly Parents” in which I also am the star, it’s a coming of age story raunchy Romantic comedy that’s made for the modern time but has that 2000s feel that we all miss and want back in these type of movies. I just casted my Lead actress Catalina Cielo and the campaign has been going great . The goal is to take it to a big studio like Universal or major Streamer like Netflix. I got to where I’m at by not getting cast in anything I ever auditioned for and got to the point where I was going to take my career in my own hands and it was the best decision I could have made. It wasn’t easy but I knew I came to far to stop now. I want the world to know I’m here to stay I’m just getting started I’m here to make you laugh not chuckle lol and everything that I create has inspirations from the 90s and 2000s because that when I fell in love with movies and TV and know I wanted to do this. My story, I’m the underdog I like it that way because that means the shock value will be that much bigger.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to my favorite chill spot in Burbank, place called Reno’s pizzeria I been going there for 10 years since I been in LA. Go to the beach because you just gotta go when you in LA. Maybe go to Pinz bowling in Sherman oaks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I gotta start with my mom. My story starts with her. I can honestly say my mom never tried to push me away from my Dreams, she has always encouraged me to do it starting from my early teens years, I always believe in myself because she always believed in me instilling that confidence in me.
