We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasai Madden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasai, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
On day one and every day since – for the past 4+ years -I have shown up to do this work because the people who need it have made their needs known, and that is a powerful force for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I teach women to come closer to themselves. To be unafraid of accessing parts of their emotional, physical and spiritual life that may have been off limits to them previous to being tied at Alaiyo. I am uniquely qualified to do this work because I do it in my own life as I suggest it be done; with intention, compassion for myself and others, and a firm knowing that I am now and have always been, exactly where I should be, doing exactly what I should be doing. This knowing is a freedom and a grace at the same time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just did this in 2019-2020 with my wife. The world got wonky pretty quickly but I am a foodie who probably drinks too much really great coffee, so we went to all kinds of restaurants from Republique to Hilltop Coffee and Kitchen. I’m also a nature lover so we checked out various areas of the city from gorgeous hiking trails in Santa Monica and Calabasas. And then there was the beach. Huntington Beach in May and Shutters on the Beach in July. The rest of the time was spent in my home studio which is my favorite place on the planet. Hands down.    Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter. She is my “Right Hand Fran” She has given her energy and attention to this work in a way that sometimes defies gravity and her age. She’s 19.
