Meet Jay Alan | High Blood Pressure Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Alan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jay, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea behind Gangsta Holistic came into fruition after being hospitalized and diagnosed with congestive heart failure and chronic kidney disease 5 years ago at the age of 39. My goal was to leave corporate America and make a livelihood for myself based off of my story. How can I educate and help others as well as make a living out of it. That’s when I decided to write my first book Gangsta Holistic Verses Vol. 1 After my first book I made the choice to start retailing my own line of Black Seed Oil. Since Black Seed Oil was a huge factor in healing my kidneys and heart, I am a strong advocate for it. From then everything snowballed! I started writing more books and also retailing things such as G Moss (our line of Sea Moss) and our men’s libido tonic called RemEDy. The support from the public has been outstanding. Coupled together with consistency and a ton of good energy, Gangsta Holistic has made its stamp as one of the up and coming premier outlets for holistic products. Our platform focuses in on helping folks best hypertension. As far as the future, Gangsta Holistic has a course and program coming soon called “Pimp Slappin’ High Blood Pressure” where we do exactly that. Assist our clients in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. Sharing pieces of my story with transparency has helped catapult this entire brand. Gangsta Holistic means that when it comes to your health, at times you may have to get tough, get “gangsta” and actually snatch it back! Visit us today on all platforms @gangstaholistic
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets our brand apart from other Holistic brands is #1 I’m straight from the hood. We teach in a way that people can understand. No big words, we meet the people where they are at. We also keep it fun and the vibe is always right. I do all the editing as far as photos, videos and music. Holistic education over hip hop/neo soul beats??? Where they do that at? Over here at Gangsta Holistic that’s where! The most challenging part is being consistent. I became a work horse at putting out content at a very consistent pace. Before Gangsta Holistic I was the Program Director for an online radio station as well as ran a FB page where I accumulated over 270,000 followers without ever paying for a dime of advertising. So this social media stuff I’ve been doing since about 2013. What I’ve learned is that at times you have to do it alone and be fine with that. There will be people who you’ll have to leave behind and that’s okay. It’s called growth. I’d like the world to know that Gangsta Holistic is a brand that actually cares and is genuine with whatever it is we do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Things have changed so much since the pandemic. If this was pre-pandemic the places I’d take an out of town visitor would be: Tha Juice Joint in Hollywood at The Study for live music, Leimert Park for African Culture, LA Live, Grilled Fraiche, Kick Ass Vegan & The Comedy Store Phat Tuesdays.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When it comes to the success of Gangsta Holistic I really have to thank my mother. When things started speeding up for the company, she took a hold of administrative duties and has become one of the backbones to our brand. She does it all and with a great attitude. My mother has always been patient with me. Even when she may of not known what direction I was going in. I feel so blessed to have her on my team and working with the company. She is a gem for sure!
