We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Hughes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I have learn is that, people pay you to do something they can’t do. The way you put out your product or service defines the type of business you run and the type of business you are upholding. You wouldn’t want to push out or present something they could’ve did on their own. Every experience should be an experience and a memory.
What should our readers know about your business?
First and foremost I am Jasmine Hughes, Born and raised in Lafayette, LA. I am a University of Louisiana Graduate. JaeCreations is a decorating service but we also specialize in other services and craft needs. After starting the decorating part of my business, I was able to venture out and start new services like The Love Experience, Picnic N’ Chill, LoveBoxes, etc. My business started very small decorating for friends, family, coworkers. It eventually grew throughout the pandemic. It was not easy starting, having the creativity was there but making events come to life was were I struggled. My first year in business taught me time management, spending, expenses, learning my target audience and business ethics. I always had a eye for creative things and seeing things in a different way. Throughout my 3 years of business, I’ve learned who to work with, how to get my business out there. I’ve also learned how to create more experiences for clients and also run different services other than decorating events. I plan on expanding my business and opening my own venue in the future. I started this business at 19 years old, and in the years of being in business i’ve been able to work with amazing business owners and partner up with different business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Lafayette, LA. If my bestfriend were visiting I would definitely take her to the new Selfie Museum NotetoSelfie. Enjoy a day there. Food wise we are definitely a try it all group, Sushi Masa or Central Pizza would be my top picks for food and a good vibe. Legends downtown or really any location is a fun laid back place for the weekend.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family definitely deserve recognition. They show up whenever help is needed and wanted. They continue to spread the word about my businesses and services wether it’s via social media or just talking to someone about it.
