We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzmonae Lockette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazzmonae, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea of starting my own business stemmed from a personal experience I went through after having my son. Like many new mothers, I experienced postpartum hair loss, which really affected my confidence. I’ve always had a passion for hair care, so I found myself frustrated by spending hundreds of dollars on products that didn’t work and often contained ingredients I wasn’t familiar with.

Determined to take control of my hair health, I decided to create my own hair care products. Through trial and error, I developed products that helped my hair grow longer and stronger, and I finally regained the confidence I had lost.

As I shared my homemade hair oil with friends, the results were so noticeable that they began asking for their own bottles. It was actually my husband who suggested I take the next step and turn this passion into a business.

Now, Zions Crown Hair Products is helping both men and women of all hair textures experience healthier, stronger hair. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how my products have made a difference in the lives of so many others, and I’m proud to continue sharing the solution I created for myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey to where I am today has been paved with persistence, faith, and a deep-rooted passion for what I do. I’ve faced my share of rough patches, but quitting was never an option. Instead, I chose to find solutions not just for myself, but ones that could uplift others around me too. Running a business isn’t always easy, but when you truly love what you do, that love becomes your fuel. And I’ve been blessed to have people in my corner encouraging me, pushing me forward, and covering me in prayer daily.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this: a million people can offer the same service you do, but no one else can offer you. Your authenticity, your heart, and your unique approach are your greatest assets. That mindset has helped me embrace the value I bring and build something truly special.

Zions Crown isn’t just a hair care line. It’s a movement. We’re about more than just products; we’re about purpose. We exist to inspire others to never give up. Our brand is rooted in genuine love, resilience, and the belief that every person deserves to feel proud of their crown. We don’t just sell hair care. We provide a lifelong experience of self-love, empowerment, and community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A perfect weekend for me is all about good vibes, great food, and a little adventure! It kicks off with a visit to The Serving Spoon located in Inglewood. Nothing beats their soul food! Picture this: tender fried chicken, fluffy cornbread, and the kind of greens that will make you feel right at home. After I’ve had my fill of amazing food, I head straight to the beach. Whether it’s a sunny day or a breezy evening, the soothing sound of the waves and the open horizon always help me to clear my mind. And of course, the weekend wouldn’t be complete without some music and dancing! I love being in places where the energy is buzzing, whether it’s a live band, a DJ, or just a great playlist. If I can dance and groove my way through the night, that’s when I feel truly alive!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
