Meet Jenn Lynette | Owner of Rise Up

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenn Lynette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Rise Up Media & Hospitality wasn’t a random leap — it was a very intentional evolution.
I’ve always been deeply connected to people, community, and storytelling. Working in both the music and hospitality industries, I saw so many talented small business owners and independent music artists pouring their hearts into what they do — but struggling to tell their story in a way that truly reflected their value. They had the passion and the talent, but not always the strategy, visibility, or branding to match.
I kept thinking, “They deserve more. They deserve to be seen. They deserve to grow.”
I didn’t just want to manage social media — I wanted to build brands. I wanted to help small businesses and music artists grow their audience, strengthen their identity, increase revenue, and create long-term impact in their communities.
Rise Up Media & Hospitality was built on that foundation. We focus intentionally on supporting small businesses and music artists because they are the heartbeat of local communities. The “hospitality” piece is just as important as the media side — everything we do is rooted in relationships, service, and genuine partnership.
I didn’t start this business to simply run accounts. I started it to help entrepreneurs and artists rise into the next level of their potential — with strategy, creativity, and purpose behind every move.
That vision continues to drive everything we do.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Rise Up Media & Hospitality apart is that we are real. What you see is exactly who we are. We don’t believe in surface-level marketing — we believe in authentic storytelling, intentional strategy, and genuine partnership.
We are driven, determined, and deeply invested in our clients’ success. Whether we’re working with a small business, a brewery, a construction company, or an independent music artist or festival, our goal is the same: to bring your vision to life in a way that feels aligned, strategic, and impactful. We don’t just create content — we listen. We take the time to understand who our clients truly are, what they stand for, and where they want to go. Then we combine their vision with our creative and strategic direction to elevate their brand.
The journey to building this business has not been easy. There were doors that closed. There were opportunities that didn’t work out. There were moments of doubt. But every closed door refined me. It forced me to grow thicker skin, sharpen my skills, and stay focused on the bigger vision.
What I’ve learned is that resilience is everything. Not everyone will see your vision at first — and not everyone will have your best interest at heart. But the right people will align. The right clients will trust you. And those are the relationships that matter.
One of our core beliefs at Rise Up is that nobody is “too small.” Every business and every artist starts somewhere. Sometimes all someone needs is one opportunity, one strategic push, or one team that truly believes in them.
What I want the world to know about our brand is this: we care deeply. We are relationship-driven. We protect our clients’ vision like it’s our own. And we are here to help small businesses and music artists rise into their next level — with integrity, creativity, and purpose behind every move.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, we’d definitely be heading toward the beaches in San Diego. There’s something about the coastline there — whether it’s La Jolla, Pacific Beach, or Coronado — that instantly resets you. Mornings would start with coffee near the ocean, long walks by the water, and just soaking in that Southern California energy.
From there, we’d spend time exploring the old towns and historic districts. I love walking through places like Old Town San Diego State Historic Park — not just for the history, but for the small shops, local vendors, and unique finds you won’t see anywhere else. There’s something special about discovering businesses that are built on passion and story.
Boutique shopping would absolutely be part of the itinerary. I’m always drawn to independently owned shops — the kind where you can meet the owner, hear their vision, and feel the heart behind the brand. Supporting small businesses isn’t just something I talk about in my company — it’s how I live.
And of course, we’d end most nights with live music. Whether it’s a local band playing in a beachside venue or a songwriter showcase in a cozy spot, that’s my favorite way to experience a city. Live music brings people together, creates memories, and showcases raw talent — and I’ll always support artists chasing their dreams.
For me, the best week isn’t about tourist attractions. It’s about connection — to the ocean, to creativity, to entrepreneurs, to musicians, and to the community. That’s what makes Southern California so special.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. There isn’t one single person — it’s truly a combination of people who have shaped both my personal and professional growth.
First, my business partner Maddie Dennis, who stood by me starting as my assistant while I grew Rise Up and helped me without pay till we were off the ground and now is my business partner & couldn’t imagine doing this without her!
2nd is my best friend Miranda Ramos, who is also now one of our music artist clients. We met front row at a Priscilla Block concert and have been inseparable since. I believe in her and she in me, couldn’t imagine doing this journey without her!
Definitely my parents, I had to start from the bottom up when I re located here almost 4 years ago after leaving a domestic abuse situation and they have stood by and supported my dream and were my biggest cheerleaders. I couldn’t be more grateful for them.
