We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Archie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has always been tough for me! The fear of the unknown or what’s on the other side of this has usually stopped me from taking risks. Being comfortable is easy, but you pay a high price for unhappiness.

In 2018, I was extremely unhappy, stressed, and miserable at my job. I needed to take ownership of my life and make some serious changes. So, I decided to quit my job. I had no idea what my next step would be, but I felt better just to know I was free. After numerous job rejections and dead ends, Junie Bees Butta was born!

What should our readers know about your business?
Junie Bees Butta is a boutique skincare brand in the Los Angeles area specializing in handcrafted luxe body butters. We are a universal brand. It’s for everyone and everyone loves the Butta!

5 years ago, I started making body butters to heal my daughter’s skin issues. I spent a lot of money on various products and the doctor even prescribed steroids. I wanted something chemical-free, so I decided to make my own. I started with shea butter and coconut oil. Then added more butters and oils as my daughter got older until I came up with the perfect formula.

I never thought it would turn into a business, but about 2 years ago, a friend wanted to buy a jar to give as a holiday gift. I told her I didn’t sell it, but she insisted on giving me $20 for a jar…The rest is history!

Starting and maintaining a small business is not for the weak! It’s tough, but so rewarding that you built this and you’re in business! The challenges come everyday, but I’ve learned to keep the faith and listen to my gut! The best advice to anyone wanting to start a business, is Just start…Go for it and do your research!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, my bestie and I love to shop and have great cocktails. Here’s where I would take her over the course of the week…

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to my husband, Marlin Archie. He has always seen the greatness in me even when I didn’t see it in myself. I also would like to dedicate this shout out to my daughter, June. There would not be a Junie Bees Butta if she wasn’t born. Last, but never least my parents…They have invested in me and this business.
