We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Berson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want to make an impact on the lives of women all over the world through my programs that empower them to take their careers into their own hands. I have created a powerful platform, Jeneration Academy, that teaches them how to master PR, a very sought-after and in-demand skill, and then provides a proven framework for how to run a profitable agency, supporting clients they love and that they are truly passionate about. The model that I provide allows women to “have it all” by growing a successful business on their terms and around their schedule.

As a former lawyer, I didn’t see many women in my firm who were a model for the type of work-life integration I was seeking. Once I took the risk and started my own PR firm, I built a business that could sustain itself while I transitioned into motherhood with both of my boys.

I want to be know for changing the way women are forced to choose between career or motherhood, providing them with the training and resources to have a family and a career, and be successful at both!

Our programs have served thousands of women in over 23 countries. It’s incredible to connect with savvy, driven women around the world!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run two businesses side-by side, which makes things very interesting every day! I am the Founder and President of Jeneration PR, an award-winning public relations firm specializing in promoting beauty, baby, and lifestyle brands that I founded in 2005. We work with some well-known brands in each of our niches, and after 17 years, I still love running my agency. I am actually a former lawyer, and after making the career transition to PR expert, having a profitable agency, and then becoming a mom, I now realize how grateful I am to have this business that allows me the flexibility and freedom to do work I am passionate about, working with brands that I believe in.

About 5 years ago, I started Jeneration Academy, a platform for public relations professionals to learn how to successfully pitch the media, then how to launch, grow and scale a profitable agency working with their ideal clients. We have served thousands of people in our Profitable PR Pros community, and were recently awarded an Inc. Magazine Best in Business award for the comprehensive tools and resources we have developed for PR professionals to hone their skills.

Most recently, I closed an acquisition on PR Couture, a close competitor to ours in the online educational space for comms pros. We are merging the content into our own platform, offering more training and resources to our community. I have a really clear vision for what our audience needs and how we can grow to bring them the absolute best training and mentorship in the EdTech space for communications professionals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to see and do in Los Angeles, and as a native Angeleno, it’s hard for me to look at my city from a visitor’s perspective, so I would try to give them an experience of a true LA native. Can’t miss experiences would be hiking at Temescal, although sadly I can’t bring our new puppy, Lola, there, since it’s not dog friendly. If it were a doggie hike, Runyon Canyon early in the morning to beat the crowds and the heat would be a must-do. I know all of the secret parking spots… it’s kind of my super power.

I’d take them for lunches on the patio at Mantee Cafe in Studio City–a true hidden gem!–and Petit Trois in Sherman Oaks (I’m a Valley girl… can you tell?!). Oh and maybe brunch at Èlephante in Santa Monica and The Front Yard at the Beverly Garland in Studio City. Great drinks and awesome menu! Dinner would be at Grandmaster Records, followed by drinks at the rooftop bar, and Motherwolf if we could manage to snag a table.

It’s also fun to take the pup around the new Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge, and Taco Tuesday at Tocaya is a great casual meal in a cool setting. Their Spicy Marg is one of my favorite drinks in the City! If you get there early, you can get a table at the new Sugarfish, which is always good.

My husband and I are both LA natives and our families still live in our respective childhood homes. We grew up 7 miles apart off the same street and didn’t meet until after graduate school, although we have a few friends in common. I love this city and can’t imagine living anywhere else!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely must give a Shoutout to my husband Kevin who is my biggest cheerleader. With him by my side, I feel supported and sure that I will be successful in every endeavor. No idea is too crazy, no risk is too big. He always tells me he would bet on me any day, so that gives me the confidence I need to make big moves as I grow my business.
