We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer + Jaime Vallinas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer + Jaime, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We had our dream destination wedding with our closest friends and family in early 2020, right before COVID hit. When our wedding was over, we had wanted to keep the wedding week celebration going still and basically do the wedding all over again because we had so much fun, but of course we couldn’t! So the idea of Made With Jetaime Events came about. MWJ started with the idea of us wanting to help other couples have their dream wedding just as we had ours. The cost of wedding planners and coordinators are expensive and we wanted to offer the quality of a planner and coordinator without the expensive money tag that comes along with it. However, when COVID hit and large events were being cancelled, we wanted for families and couples to still celebrate whatever occasion it may be – graduation, anniversary, engagement, birthdays, and more – in a different way! What better way to do that by throwing small, intimate events – something we specialize in! We love small and intimate get-togethers and somehow created the idea of a unique picnic experience . MWJ offers not only event and wedding planning services and coordination, but also luxury picnic rentals in Orange County.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Made With Jetaime Events offers luxury picnic rentals in Orange County. We also offer wedding/event planning and coordination services in Orange County and Oahu. Something that we are most proud of at MWJ is that we are able to offer quality service, items, and experience without the premium price. We really want for people to get to experience a picnic and celebrate milestones without breaking the bank so although we offer set picnic packages and wedding/event packages, we also do our best to work with our client’s budget. Something else that we are proud of is that it is just us two doing everything for our company – answer inquiries, update social medias, prep for events, set-up and clean-up events.. We put our hearts, sweat, and tears into MWJ and wouldn’t have it any other way. We may be tired and our bodies are usually sore from all the heavy lifting, but we are so grateful for helping people celebrate milestones and to be a part of a memorable experience. One of the challenges we face at MWJ is balancing time with our family, job, and business. Not only are we full-time parents and have full time day jobs, we also are running MWJ. We are grateful that we can work from home currently, which allows us to have more time with our kids. Something that helps us be parents, workers, and entrepreneurs is managing our time and schedule and multi-tasking. Every minute is never taken for granted – we are always working or doing something. Our family and friends mean a lot to us as we wouldn’t be where we are if it weren’t for their support. We are grateful to have them in our lives and enjoy every get-together, celebrations, and moments with them. Hence, MWJ is all about that – celebrating and creating memories with family and friends.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1 – The first place to go take our best friends to show them the best time ever is starting the day with breakfast The Crema Cafe in Seal Beach. Their breakfast is amazing and the outdoor seating is perfect for any OC weather and the greatest, intimate vibes. After breakfast, we’d explore by driving along PCH and stopping along the beaches – Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar, and Laguna Beach. There’s so many things to do around all 3 beaches – shopping at Fashion Island, enjoying the views at Lookout Point, walking the pier at HB, but we’d definitely recommend a pit stop for lunch at Asada in Corona Del Mar. They have the best Mexican food – great quality for fair price! Definitely would recommend their short ribs nacho and mango margarita! To end the first day, what better way than to end it the MWJ way – with a sunset picnic – at our FAVORITE location – Lookout Point. Enjoy a picnic where everyone is gathered around at the table, candles setting the mood, enjoying drinks and good food from Mendocino’s Farms, and the greatest view of all – the beautiful sun setting behind beach of Corona Del Mar. Day 2 and 3 – Of course, when you’re in OC, you can’t miss the theme parks! We are HUGE Disneyland fans and would definitely be taking our best friends to Disneyland for 2 days – just enough to explore Disneyland and California Adventures! We definitely recommend trying breakfast at Plaza Inn, lunch at the Carnation Cafe, and dinner at the Lamplight Lounge. If you’re at the Lamplight Lounge, we definitely recommend their lobster nachos. Disneyland Hotel also has a secret bar – Trader’s Sam. We highly recommend ending the night there for great drinks and great tiki vibes! Day 4 – After a few days in OC, it is now time to explore LA. Our first stop in LA would be Hollywood. We’d be typical tourist – walking the Hollywood strip and mall, taking tours to view celebrity spots and homes, visiting the Wax Museum – the whole Hollywood tourist shebang! We’d end the night at Griffith Observatory to capture great views of the city at night and to learn more about the nightsky. Day 5 – The last day of the trip would end in LA, exploring the beautiful beaches. However, our first stop would be to the Grove to explore their shopping center, but also to eat at the cute little food shops at the Original Farmers Market. The two beaches we’d go to is Manhattan Beach and picnic at Bruce’s Beach with some sushi from Sugarfish. Bruce’s Beach is a grassy hill with AMAZING view of Manhattan Beach, but there is so much history on this land that tourists need to know and check out when they visit. After exploring Manhattan Beach, we’d head over to downtown Santa Monica during the to shop around and then walk to the pier and have fun at Pacific Park – time to be kids again playing games and riding rides!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are so grateful for all the success we’ve had since starting MWJ in such little time! If it wasn’t for our parents, we wouldn’t be able to set-up these amazing picnics. We are so thankful to have great parents who are willing to watch our two kids while we set-up picnics. Not only that, thank you to our parents for letting us ship and store things at their home because our home is starting to fill up with inventory! To our close friends for always encouraging us and sharing our work! And finally, our greatest shoutouts is to everyone who has booked with us and interacted with us on social media! Because of how small we are, every booking, inquiries, likes, shares, repost, means so much to us because it helps gets our name out there and for that we are so grateful! MWJ would not be where we are at if it weren’t for our clients and followers! We have learned so much as business owners on how we can improve running our business and client relationship and we can’t wait to continue learning more and expanding.
